Being from Jammu, one thing that never changes for us is our love for Pandit Ji’s Kaladi Kulcha. Whenever we visit Jammu, this is always on the top of our food list – it’s not just a snack, it’s an inseparable part of the city’s food culture and our own memories.
The star here is the Dogri Kaladi cheese – a local delicacy you won’t find anywhere else in India. It’s slightly salty, chewy, and when cooked on the tawa it releases a smoky aroma that makes your mouth water instantly. Pandit Ji takes this kaladi, tucks it inside a crispy kulcha, and serves it with tangy chutney and onions. The outside of the kulcha stays crisp and golden, while inside the melted kaladi stretches with every bite – a taste that is unique to Jammu and impossible to forget once you try it.
What makes the experience even better is the simplicity of the place. It’s not a fancy restaurant – just a humble setup always buzzing with locals and travelers who come here for that authentic Jammu flavor. Watching the kaladi sizzling on the hot tawa and the kulchas being made fresh adds to the charm. The food is served piping hot, with no unnecessary delay.
The prices are very reasonable, which makes it easy to enjoy this treat again and again. And honestly, it never gets boring – no matter how many times we’ve eaten here, the taste still feels special every single time.
For us, a trip to Jammu is incomplete without eating Pandit Ji’s Kaladi Kulcha. It’s a dish that represents the heart and soul of Dogra cuisine – simple, traditional, yet so rich in flavor. If you are visiting Jammu and want to experience something truly local and unique, Pandit Kaladi Kulcha is a must-try.

Read morePanditji makes their own kaladis at home from fresh raw milk. That's why it is always fresh and white in colour. But the connoisseurs of Kaladi very well know that the real flavour of Kaladi is of the old ,dry, sourish and yellowish Kaladi with a slight mouldy layer which gives the typical sour flavour of Kaladi. But, anyhow, their kaladi is excellent for those who prefer white and fresh Kaladi.Their chutney is also flavorful and tasty. But one has to wait a lot for their turn since there is always a heavy Rush of customers. But the wait is...
Read moreI think the kaladi kulcha is a very nice dish, it is basically a type of cheese which is a little sour in taste and once it is heated on the pan it becomes stretchy like mozzarella cheese, then this cheese is served between bread. They add some salt to it, while the kulcha is served with a green spicy and brown sweet chutney and some shredded veggies.
I would recommend you to eat a double kaladi kulcha since i found the ratio of bread more to the cheese and more cheese would definitely...
