I would break down my review in sections:
Occasion: Mother's Bday
Atmosphere: Since the last visit the atmosphere has changed they have adapted to 'yellow lighting' to my taste it's too much yellow lighting. 3.5/5
Service: the staff, the server is one of the very fine ends, they treat you well and are ready to serve in an instant. 5/5
Food: now coming to the main part, I think when there weren't many fancier places in Ranchi this was one of the spots but I guess they are not keeping up.
We started with some Starters: (Very well done) Murg malai chaap: feeling was great it was not dry to taste. 5/5.
Jheenga something: Tandoori prawn they were well done with coriander chutney. 5/5.
Main Course: (Huge disappointment) We ordered: Mutton Rogan Josh: I believe, the chef either doesn't know the dish or they think customers won't know the difference.
Problem : Rohan Josh gravy usually is red in color it comes from the ingredient 'ratant jot' and it's on the little spicy side, it was nothing per my expectation.
Taste: The pieces were four and they were soft and good but the gravy is something not something you would crave again.
Argument: Onna and moti Mahal and Kareem's original there mutton's dishes I have been ordering and dinning they are something to look forward to, they got that taste and zing.
Chicken dum biryani: A Joke at best.
Discussion: I asked the server clearly is this hyderbadi style, he mentioned 'not' I was okay but he said it will dum for sure.
Portion: too little.
Taste: Rice didn't have any aroma or the flavours. The chicken pieces were two, didn't get any taste, more towards simple and blend. Ate with mutton gravy to get some feel.
Raita: not of biryani for sure, too thick, biryani raitas are little on thinner texture. Salan: didn't care to even try.
Argument: Lived in hyd for 2 years I know what I am asking, even the worst ones there are better than here.
Learn from biryani by kilo, taste their biryanis they are from hyd. Outlet now in Ranchi, try to mimic their taste and then innovate on top of it.
Drinks: Ballentine 12 years and black dog.
Served as per my liking on the rocks and they were good and fine.
Point to Note: I don't like when plates and glasses are kept in front of dining tables, it ruins the vibe. That can be improved.
As their food are on pricey end they should focus a lot on dishes. Keep it small but excellent or keep everything to the finest.
Overall: Will try again this place again but with...
Read moreIt may sound like your average dining point, but “YELLOW SAPPHIRE“ is something different ! I wandered in with two friends on a Monday afternoon , and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and incredible aroma of “YELLOW SAPPHIRE”. The restaurant was filling up quickly (it was almost 02:00 pm) but we managed to snag a table. We ordered the prawn salt & pepper as the satrter . The prawns were well golden fried & seems like little bombs having crispy texture from outside & chewy from inside. It was crisp , flavourful & chewy . The pepper was robust but not overpowering. Next we turned on to the complete meal offered by restaurant at buffet , offering from the drink to dessert. There was variety to chose & having no restrictions for the 2nd time . It was having three types of veg , two of non-veg , three types of starters(veg/non-veg) , soups(veg/non-veg) , Soft drinks , three types of dessert including Brownies, ice-cream , rasmalai😋. In fact there was a special chef to make your salad on order having a varieties from continental salads including veg & non-veg .
By the end of the meal we were planning our next visit . This place is perfect for groups or a...
Read moreThe ambience of the restaurant is quite pleasant and the staff service is polite and attentive, which initially created a positive impression. However, the food itself was very disappointing. The flavors lacked depth and overall quality, which overshadowed the otherwise nice setting.
In particular, I had ordered a hot chocolate, expecting something rich and comforting. Instead, what I received tasted exactly like a thin Bournvita drink — watery, bland, and far from what a proper hot chocolate should be. When I pointed this out, the staff simply responded by saying, “This is how we serve it here,” which was quite disheartening. It felt dismissive rather than an attempt to understand or improve the customer’s experience.
No matter how good the ambience or service is, the heart of any restaurant is its food and drinks. Sadly, this was the weakest part of my visit. Unless the quality and authenticity of the dishes improve, I don’t see myself recommending this...
