Hotel Gurudev — Restaurant in Kalyan-Dombivli

Writing about Hotel Gurudev is nothing but writing the history of kalyan. I am starting right from the inception. In the year 1969 I have passed SSc (old) examination and became young to enter into hotel or a theatre to see movies with friends. At that time our parents were very strict. If any body told about us to our parents that your son was in a hotel or in a theatre, there was a fear of beating. So, when we were children, we were afraid of entering the hotel or in a theatre. But, when passed SSc, became free as if we got license to enter into same.

At that time welcome hotel which was situated at Shivaji Chowk owned by Shri Bhaskar Shetty a pure veg hotel was our craze. Every evening we were in that hotel and had a breakfast or tea no matter who was paying.

At that time we were social workers too and were very big fan of late honourable Shri Balasaheb thakre and thus became shivasainik.

One day Shri Bhaskar Shetty left welcome hotel aside and opened new hotel "Gurudev" at new station road. As we were well acquainted with him, we were invited on the inauguration ceremony. We were very crazy about hotelling and thuswe decided to go for the same and thereafter became his friends.

Now Hotel gurudev become our main adda (meeting point) in the evening. We were atleast drinking tea in that hotel every day.

At that time all south Indian dishes as well as some Punjabi dishes were available at a fair rate in the hotel.

There was only one road for Railway Station an old station and in the area of hotel gurudev there was mud. We were afraid about how this hote will run and frankly told him the same.

At that time some 200 tangas were available for transportation no rickshaw no taxi. After few years the area developed and new station road is made. Since then hotel started running non stop till now.

Now plenty of dishes continental non continental Chinese Punjabi Maharashtrian south Indian right from the start up to ice cream or coldrink in the end are available. Right from the morning till upto nearly twelve in the night hotel is open. They are not refusing listed item and asking excuse. Right from the inception dishes are being added. Even misal pav is available.

We went this place on Sunday night at 10pm for dinner......after dinner I paid the bill my husband was going to wash hands...me with my 2 small kids sitting....suddenly the manager said to me you have paid bill now you wait outside the hotel very rudely...we carried big luggage also me with 2 kids husband not yet come from washroom ...how can it possible to me to handle luggage with kids to go outside.... manager forcing me to go and wait outside the hotel the time was just 11pm then only they are in hurry to wind up all things...not thinking about family kids ....then my husband came and I said him all things...hes scolded to manager my husband said we are already paid the bill ...this is the way to talk to a woman also with small kids ...the closing time is 12 am and we are finishing everything 11pm then only manager behaviour unprofessional....rest all waiter also in hurry to wind up but the more than that costomer are still there to dinner ...very bad experience...the manager and thair waiters...
