Whenever I travel, I love to eat the local cuisine, or visit places that are famous in that particular city.
Instead of eating the breakfast in the hotel we stayed in, my friends and I decided to visit Hotel Sree Vaishnaves. This is one of the most popular restaurants in Kannur and once we read the reviews, we were tempted to try out the place.
As it can get very crowded in the morning, we decided to go right when it opens. The weather was quite cool as it had rained in the night, so we took a short and sweet walk to our destination.
The restaurant is situated on the side road, so there is ample parking for two and four wheelers.
We were the first set of customers that day.
The restaurant is spacious and bright with comfortable seating. As soon as we sat down, the waiter came to our table and recited the items available for breakfast.
When I heard the word, "Pongal," I knew that is what I was going to order because Pongal - especially the typical South Indian style from Tamil Nadu, is my all time favorite. Though I'm not a fan of ghee, I don't mind a few drops here and there in the Pongal. The condiments of Sambhar and Coconut Chutney complemented the Pongal perfectly. To wash this down, I ordered a tumbler of hot and frothy filter coffee.
My friend ordered a plate of Masala Dosa which was served with Sambhar and Chutney. The Dosa is so huge, that it can be shared with another person! There was generous amount of the potato filling too.
Another friend ordered a plate of single Vada. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Just like the other dishes, the Vada was also served with Sambhar and Chutney.
Finally, my other friend ordered a Plain Dosa which she said tasted yummy. The Tamilian style Sambhar is something different from the kind you get anywhere else. The amalgamation of the powders is what enhances the flavor and makes you want to eat more spoonfuls.
The food was delicious, the prices were quite reasonable, service was quick and the hand wash area was clean too.
Near the billing counter, there were some packets of snacks kept for sale like Banana Chips, Tapioca Chips, Mixture, Murukku, etc.
I would highly recommend Hotel Sree Vaishnaves for a delicious vegetarian and authentic Tamilian breakfast. ...
Read more[READ FULLY] After seeing so many good reviews on Instagram 🤯 and Google Maps😖, got a chance to visit this restaurant today with my friend. Unfortunately it was a bad day for us. 😫
Restaurant is little away from the main road. Ambience is just okay.
Ordered Masala dosa, ghee roast, vada, tea and coffee from this restaurant. All items are below average. Vada and Tea not even worth to pay a single penny. Price is also on the higher end compared to other similar restaurants in Kannur.
I normally hesitant to give negative reviews to the places i have been visiting. But this one completely disappointed me. Will never visit this restaurant again. 😬🤐
Edit : After giving the review, the restaurant owner gave a reply saying it is FAKE! Lol! How can you say it is FAKE even after uploading photos of restaurant and food items i had from here? First you should have the patience and courage to accept the criticism. If the food is not good people will clearly express it here.Accept that. Initially i had given 2 star rating to overall experience. Now I am reducing it to 1 star after this unprofessional behavior from the management. If there is an option for zero or negative rating i would have given that.
Now i understood how you are getting so many good reviews on social media. It is purely paid reviews. You can call me fake or whatever you like. But you cannot run business for long if you provide such low class food to Kannur foodies. They know which one is good and which one is bad. Instead of paying/free food to so called 'social media influencers' and getting paid reviews please improve the quality food. At least prepare good tea and serve....

I went there around 9 pm with less hopes, but i was truly amazed!!!!
Ordered A Masala dosa ,a Vada and 2 Filter coffee and Kesari for Dessert. The Dosa was way too good with its size and taste😍😍😍 and i was surprised by the crispness and quality of the vada, which was Vere level💯💯 I used to have Filter coffee whenever i went to a vegetarian Restaurant and this time also i tried not one but two filter coffees ☺️☺️ The coffee was great and i will definitely comeback for it. Kesari was not that much appealing, because my tastebudds were already saturated with sugar.. but it was good.
The staffs are From Tamilnadu and they are ready to help with anything you need, with a smile under their mask. I don't know how the rush hour look like in this place, but i will definitely recommend this place for dining with your family- if you are into hardcore south Indian vegetarian cusine😀😀😀
One important thing- Plenty of parking space 👍
Planning to comeback with few friends and tryout few varieties in the menu.... Veg lovers,Don't miss...
