Chowman (Electronic City) — Restaurant in Karnataka

It was a mundane day for us, so we decided to cheer ourselves up by having some Chinese cuisine. Reached our destination and happily climbed the stiff stairs,sniffing in all the aromatic air of spring onions, fried rice and some other dishes. The place is cosy with very limited seating but the vibe is very authentic.

Now let's talk about the main part, the food. I have been to different outlets of Chowman in Kolkata, but I found the taste of this outlet kinda different. So let me tell u guys first what we ordered, we started off with a chicken noodle soup(1/2), steamed pork momos,schezwan mixed noodles,hunan chicken and a Seabreeze mocktail.

The soup came in pretty soon, taste was good, but personally i prefer my soup to be hot n not warm, so ya the soup was just warm, but that didnt hamper the taste much. Next we were served the pork momos, the momos were the most driest pork momos that I have ever had in my life, the dough felt rough, texture wise something was missing and it was not at all juicy n it was even miniature sizes tbh(paid 300 for 8pcs, not worth at all). These two dishes were served back to back, so 1 point for that.

Next came in a waiting period of 15+ mins for the main course, rang the bell twice no one came in to check, okay so no lets ignore the wait time, schezwan mixed noodles tasted ok, with 4pcs of prawns, 2 pcs of mushroom, a few shredded pieces of chicken n none of us ie me n my partner got even a piece of egg. Not let's talk about the epic dish HUNAN CHICKEN, if what was served was the actual hunan chicken then the n no of times that I had this dish before was mere lie. It tasted horrible.

The best of all was the mocktail, hint of pinacolada n other mixes, i honestly loved it to the core.

Tbh, this wasnt the best of an experience one would...

April 2023 update: After the recent visit, bringing down the rating to 2*. Reason explained below.

I have ordered from here several times for home delivery and also dined-in twice. During the recent visit, I walked out when I heard the head waiting staff/ manager screaming at the kitchen staff/ chef, inside the kitchen. In that small and almost claustrophobic dining area, it was extremely loud, felt unprofessional and since it was related to my order, I lost interest in continuing there.

The context is, during one of my earlier visits I had requested the same head waiting staff/ manager not to add starch into my fish main course and to use bare and steamed bhetki fish morsels instead of flour coated and deep fried bhetki morsels. Then the kitchen had obliged and served a very tasty main course. So, the next time, expecting similar quality, I walked in with my family and made a similar request to the same manager. This time, after our dishes arrived, we noticed that our request was blatantly ignored. The dish was overloaded with starch which made the gravy texture like a paste and the fish was coated with flour and deep fried. It spoiled my lunch with my family. The starch was simply too much. I brought it to the notice of the manager but he promised that I should try it this time and that he will oblige with the request during the next visit. During my recent visit, I requested the same manager to not overload the main course gravy with starch and also use steamed bhetki fish morsels. He appeared to suddenly lose his temper, stormed into the kitchen and started shouting loudly at the staff inside (probably the chef). This was very unprofessional so I simply walked out...

When I found that Chowman is also available in Bengaluru and that too very near my place, I was just super happy!!

The happiness turned into sadness when I struggled for Parking and beyond that No TOILET available, Thanks to the Burger King right opposite to Chowman, that It has a neat and clean toilet where they allow everyone to use it.

So we entered in a dark place with highly elevated space and was wondering that inspite the entry is small and narrow the place from inside must be big. To my surprise it has very limited tables to sit and eat.

Nevertheless, what matters at any restaurant or about any restaurant is food quality, taste and behaviour if the staff.

So here it comes the special part, as always the same taste I got in my favourite Manchow soup and Chowman special noodles. Now best thing I got to see was their own branded water bottle which will not cost to more than a bottle you buy outside which looks fancy. I was just super happy to see it. Despite all odds I mentioned, they treated every customer well and served with complete humble attitude. Very nice and courteous staff.

Things to remember:

Make prior appointments Reach on time or inform them prior if you are running late. Use Burger King toilet if you get pressure 😂🤓 Buy this bottle even if you are not thirsty. Its good to have few cute things in life. Try their Manchow and Crispy Noodle salad must.
