Bad experience. I called SBI helpline number for the documents required to open Current Account. They told I need, GST Certificate, Udyam Registration Certificate, Adhaar, PAN, Photo, address proof.
I went to this branch where my Savings account is there. That day one person was sitting near the Branch Manager board. He told, he doesn't know anything about Current account and the person responsible for this is on Leave and advised me to come next week.
Today I went there. When I enquired about Current account, Mr Madhu told, they do not open Current AC as they do not deal with cash and advised me to go to the elctronic city branch insetead. When I told I do not need cash transaction. He told do you have Trade license from KA govt. And asked "What is your equity?" twice in a row. I was about to say "100%". But that doesn't make sense as I had already mentioned its proprietary type. When asked what is equity, he says "What is your business?"
Seriouly... Please get educated about the word "Equity"! You can ask "what is your business". No one uses the word "equity" for Business. Please look at the dictionary once in a while.
Horrible experience. Arrogant responses. From the beginning he was like "I do not want to help you in opening your current account".
Ended up opening current account in Kotak Bank. 100 times better customer friendly response and eager to help the customers!
Btw, I have SBI savings account for almost 20 years now. The sad part is, the way few of the SBI officials talk, it feels like they own you and not to help...

The process will take actually 15 minutes max but for me it took two hours & funny thing is they charge for everything even for debit card renewal & they asked me to apply online when I don't ve online/mobile banking. Even at 3 to 3.30 pm the manager who approves the request is having lunch. After work done they forced me to buy some policy plan which I was not interested in somehow luckily I got out from there.
