Don’t eat at this extremely hostile and insensitive restaurant, especially if you are a tourist
After visiting Hampi we checked review on google and tripadvisor we decided to have lunch at Navaidyam. Our group was of 14 (8 adults and 6 children). After 45 minutes of ordering the food all we got was masala papad and salad. When we enquired the waiter told us the dosa batter is over so we can’t serve you that. The GM was standing there only and when we told him that they could have said the same thing 45 minutes earlier, he rudely said this is Saturday and you will not get anything else, take it or leave it. This was not at all acceptable behaviour. We decided to leave after paying the bill. But we were billed even for the food that we didn’t eat. We explained them and started leaving by paying Rs 1000(even though we had not eaten food worth Rs 500) but GM kept saying pay full INR 3000+(the value of entire order). Acting like a goon he locked the gates and didn’t allow the cars to go out. We had kids in our car who were hungry, confused and scared. We told him clearly that it is extremely illegal to block us in this way and we will call police. We even spoke with the owner over phone but they said do whatever you want we won’t open the gate. When we spoke with the neighborhood shops and hotels, they told us this is very common behaviour for this restaurant.
We called the cops who came ASAP and to the cops he told that we were running away without paying. After speaking with the waiter who took our order, police rebuked the GM. They asked the GM to apologise and understand how such negative behaviour can impact tourism, but he was not buzzing. In the end police forced him to refund the extra amount of the 1000 INR (which we tipped to the waiter instead of taking back).
We are thankful to the Police for helping us and the waiter for speaking the truth. I am giving 2 star and not 1 for the good conduct of the waiter.
And dear GM sir please find a better response as public knows what kind of people run away without paying bills. Ye public hai...
Read moreWe had lunch enroute to shivamogga from Hampi on 25th. We ordered Masala papad, tomato soup, Chapathi (Change to Roti later), Malai Kofta (ordered Capcicum Masala but we are told its not available later), Butter Milk. Service overall was neat and quick. Quality of the food was below average.
Tomato Soup - The soup was not of good taste. Masala Papad - This was good and we liked it - had onion, tomato and Sev Chapathi - The served chapathis were one side cooked, otherside was not at all heated itself. These were sent back once and asked for replacement. 2nd time also they served similar ones. The server informed us that someone prepares and sends it and they dont prepare it in the kitchen. Hence we change the order to Tanddori Roti. Tandoori Roti was fine. Malai Kofta - The taste of this was average. Quality of the item was fine. Usually most of the Kofta items are of sweet in nature, but here this was also little spicy. Butter Milk - The smell of it was not really of butter Milk. The taste was also wierd, meaning neither of butter milk, not of chat masala, nor of just curd. It was horrible in taste to be precise.
The items prices are all really overpriced considering the quality, quantity, taste.
RestRoom and Hand Wash area - Hand wash area was all wet and there was a foul smell. Rest room was stinking so much you could feel from service hall as well unless you sit far away from it.
Overall this was a VERY BAD experience in all aspect. I would never visit this place again unless someone known to me assures...
