This was my go to place until my horrendous experience last week! The lady on the cash counter needs to be answerable for being ruthlessness at the restaurant full of customers at a peek hour (not exaggerating this, this lady's attitude has bothered me many a times). Incident last week: In the afternoon at about 1:15 p.m, the restaurant is packed with customers, waiting for orders, 'the lady' rushes to kitchen and screams and yells at the staff. Loud enough that all the customers could hear it but not understand a single word because the staff are majority from north east, I'm guessing. Surely her actions took a hit on the staff and I could see the staff was not at all in their right senses. Even if there was some unacceptable behavior or be it anything, she could have waited to deal the situation if she was good person. This is sad and much concerning because the owners think once people start liking the place, they don't need to maintain the quality of service. Be kind and treat the staff right, they too have self-respect. No one is error-free. Cleanliness/ hygiene of the table is not maintained any more. Ambience needs maintenance, broken decor lights are hanging for no reason or with wrong bulbs in the wrong places! Tastes of the food has changed drastically, the Hunan chicken had fishy flavors. This place needs more efficient management. Staff needs training for handling the customers, they don't seem happy working here, probably some efforts need to be put there. The building parking and corridors stink disgustingly.
I was disappointed, embarrassed because I had taken my guest along with my family based on my previous experience.
9 months ago I had given 5 stars and they don't deserve it anymore! Changing it to 1.

Read moreWanted to have Chinese and based on the reviews, we went to hao hao.
At first glance, the atmosphere was nice. But after being seated, we noticed the torn furniture. Not much of an impediment, but the old Hindi music didn't give us the proper vibe. The interior decor had a Chinese references, but the music took us completely out of it.
Coming to the food, we had ordered the meatball chicken soup, Thai crunchy chicken, and the chicken/prawn Shin min rice.
The meatball in the soup was basically kofta, meeting it had more of an Indian flavour than Chinese. The leafy veggies felt healthy, so that's a plus. The soup is mild flavoured.
Thai crunchy was good, the chicken was flavourful and soft. One thing that can be better is the addition of some flavour for the covering fried crisps.
Oh, the shin min rice, this seems to be a popular dish at hao hao. The topping would've been a whole lot better if they change the base ketchup used. Also, the prawns didn't feel fresh and were chewy.
Overall, the food is average, and with some experiment and consistency, it...
Read moreHao Hao Chinese restaurant is located at Bendoorwell Main road, Mangaluru. I had heard about this restaurant which provides chinese food and was also popular locally. Though they don't actually provide authentic chinese food, It's basically fused with local ingredients and flavours to appeal local people. I was excited to try as i hadn't eaten any chinese food in last one year. So i travelled from Udupi just to try Hao Hao's Chinese food. Being new to this place, i ordered all popular items in menu. Few things which i ordered were good. I had never seen and eaten anything like that before, for example the soup and the crispy chicken. Those two items itself were satiating. The presentation and quality of food was also good. Apart from food, the ambience was good and the staff were polite and helpful. The parking space is situated in building's basement. I also noticed, the pricing of all food in menu ranges from 200 to 250. Pricing is just okay, maybe a bit on expensive side. Overall i am satisfied and it was worth the time and ride to eat at Hao Hao...
