A hidden gem for simple, clean, no non-sense local food. Liked the place and food so much, we had dinner here on both days we were in Shimoga. You have the choice of akki roti, chapati, jolada roti or ragi mudde. The mudde was especially good and flavorful, and we liked it even though it was our first time trying it. The sambar and rasam were so good, and it was hard to resist second and third helpings. Also, served yummy mosaru anna (curd rice) at the end. The rice felt clean and without soda as typically done in messes. It was a simple home-based operation, and the people making and serving the food were quite nice and friendly. I felt food was really tasty! But then it was not upto the mark.
The gravy with roti has just garam masala only! Serves a sweet dish at first which is just boiled in milk and jagerry no coconut milk to make it rich!
Pulav they server which smells awesome but again it's bland and overly flavoured with garam masala only !
At the end of the meal you feel heavy youll feel acidic becuse of the masalas!

The cuisine is predominantly Malenaadu style. We were served pickle, chutney, raagi and rice flour ( akki-hittu) rottis, on days they also serve ragi balls ( ragi mudde). One gets served a curry, followed by rice, sambhar, rasam, Tamboo.li ( Malenadu style of preparation) all this is unlimited.
