Today, my family and I had the opportunity to dine at Affas Udupi Veg Restaurant, a establishment with a reputation for serving traditional vegetarian cuisine. We opted for the special meal, also known as sadhya, which typically consists of a variety of dishes served with rice. Unfortunately, our experience was a mixed bag, with some aspects impressing us while others fell short.

The sadhya itself had the standard number of items, which is always a good start. However, as we began to taste each dish, our excitement quickly turned to disappointment. Sadly, none of the items impressed any of us, and we found the flavors to be surprisingly bland. Given the reputation of Udupi cuisine for its bold and aromatic flavors, this was a letdown.

On the other hand, the service at Affas Udupi Veg Restaurant was good. The staff were attentive and courteous, ensuring that our needs were met throughout the meal. The restaurant itself has a pleasant ambiance, making it a comfortable spot to dine with family.

The biggest disappointment, however, was the lack of flavor in the dishes. With a name like Affas Udupi Veg Restaurant, we expected a certain level of quality and authenticity. While they have the foundation right, they need to step up their game in terms of flavor and taste. Perhaps with a bit more attention to spice levels and ingredient quality, they can elevate their cuisine to the next level.

Overall, our experience at Affas Udupi Veg Restaurant was average. While the service and ambiance were good, the food fell short of our expectations. With some tweaks to their recipes and cooking techniques, they have the potential to become a top-notch vegetarian restaurant. Until then, it's a decent option, but not one that stands out...

After reading the good reviews we went there. Most of the things in the menu were not available, and that was a disappointment. For everyone who says nice ambience, i think, they need to redefine ambience, as our understanding of the word does not mean the same. As soon as you enter the place, there's a certain bad smell that comes. There is a AC sitting room, but that was not operational. When we asked for a table, we were told to find one for ourselves. We had to go from table to table to see if someone was about to finish their food. This was also leading to fights among people and the staff did not try to resolve it. We found ourselves a place but the way they cleaned the table with just a wiper and a dry cloth, without even water was very EWWW. How can we put our hands on a table that hasn't been cleaned properly? Let alone eat there? The food we ordered, masala dosa was ok. Samghar was cold and bland. Coconut and tomatoe chutney was very spicy. Kerala parontha was ok, but the kadhai panner was undercooked and had full tomatoes split in halves with their eye on. They were not removed at all! Chana was undercooked and mushroom masala tasted fine but the grease was I'd a bad quality and spices were high and undercoooked. Which lead to a burning sensation in teh stomach. The service was also poor. We were told that there are no spoons to offer! Very slow service.

In all, a...

There are very few restaurants in Kerala that suits the taste of people from Karnataka - and this is one of them around the area.

The food looked to be good from what we saw when we entered the restaurant. However, we had a very bad experience from there on and hence the rating:

There were many people at the time we went (due to Good Friday holiday) and there was no one to take care of the seating. It was mad rush

In between, the rice got over, and the people had to stop their meals in between

There was no one to attend to us when we sat down. It took about 10-15 min for us to get someone's attention.

We were told there were very few options left for us to order. Even after ordering, they said those items are also over and brought us something else

Finally, they had put another table's juice order in our bill

We can very well understand that everyone faces a crisis situation every now and then. However, how one reacts and responds to such situations is what differentiates them from the rest, and this restaurant clearly failed the crisis situation of...

If you are going there during weekend nights, then please avoid the place. Foremost of all, it will be extremely crowded. The management just lets everyone in, without considering how many they can serve. There are more people than the tables. So there is going to be wait. However, people wait next to your table, literally ... You are under the gun (so to speak) to eat fast. If you are a group of more than 5, then you'd have to be lucky to find tables next to each other. You will end up with different tables, with strangers seated next to you. Food quality is sub-par. Veg Chettinadu and Kadai visually looked the same. Biryani is essentially pulav ... Couldn't tell the diff. The lodge next door and this restaurant share the same parking space. Expect this to be crowded as well. There is a good chance someone will park behind your car, blocking your exit!
