It was a special day for me and I decided to take my parents for a meal on Christmas in Kochi, they travelled all the way just to have the worst experience ever with any Brunch Buffet. Absolutely everything from the very beginning I tried to make a reservation seemed off, I had to call the hotel 6 times just to get cut off at the restaurant and finally even AFTER confirmation of the reservation they did not have my name on their list and gave us outdoor corner tables. Extremely limited spread of items. The veg options were âBoiled Cauliflowerâ. The salads were just plain lazy. They had 4 lettuce salads with chicken/beef/fish and that was it. Inspite of just a few items. They managed to absolutely ruin every single dish. Not ONE dish was good let alone edible except the live counters. The chicken was undercooked (blood) almost raw. Even the Lamb from the grill was irregularly cooked, with one side raw and another burnt. When we asked the chef if there was any rice he was very condescending and told us only Risotto and if we know what that dish even was when we insisted. When asked if it was possible to make the live grill fish a bit spicy since it was extremely bland he just refused and said theyâve been marinated and itâs impossible. His behaviour was so unprofessional and rude. Since the entire place was understaffed The waiters constantly forgot even about water and had to be reminded multiple times. We were already upset and wanted to have a coffee before leaving. They completely forgot about it and made us wait 30 minutes just to come back and say the machine was broken. To top it all off it costs âš3500 per person before tax for this joke of a buffet. We paid in cash and the waiter just assumed all the balance was his tip and left. He was absolutely unhelpful and snobbish. This was the worst experience Iâve ever spent a good amount of money on. I also managed to disappoint my loved ones in a special day thanks to this restaurant. I HIGHLY recommend you AVOID this place and go to literally ANY other restaurant. Save your money, time and your self respect. I really wish I could give this place a negative or...
Read moreFirst time trying out their food and I was pleasantly surprised.
Aesthetics and decor: Simply but tastefully decorated. The tables are spread apart so you do get a private feel. The views from up there are amazing, so if you can sit by the glass, go for that!
Service: Great. Very professional staff, quick to attend.
Price: Definitely on the pricier end, especially considering the portion sizes.
Menu and food: The menu is a little limited, especially the appetisers section, but they have a decent variety of vegetarian and non-veg dishes. We tried the following: For the appetisers we went for the smoked tofu salad, crab cakes and chilled prawns with cocktail sauce. the crab cakes were fantastic (about 4 per plate). Probably some of the best crab cakes I've had. the smoked tofu and bean sprout salad was pretty stale and disappointing. There was very little actual tofu in there, and the tofu was pretty rubbery and bland to taste. Overall, the salad was very dry. I wouldn't recommend this dish. the chilled prawns was a very okay dish. You get about 3 prawns per plate with a side of cocktail sauce. The sauce itself was very mediocre.
For our entrees, we got the colony mushroom pasta, fettuccine with chorizo, seafood linguine and the catch of the day. I only tasted a few of the above and here's my take on them: the colony mushroom pasta was really good. The mushrooms were nice and juicy and the pasta was flavoured well. fettuccine with chorizo was also good, but I wasn't blown away. It's a decent dish, nothing to write home about. the catch of the day was seabass. This was a good portion and tastefully done.
Even though we didn't order full-fledged desserts, we tried a few scoops of their salted caramel ice cream. I'm not a huge fan of salted caramel flavours, but I gotta say - this was really good. Very creamy, with the right amount of caramel and salt.
Overall, a nice night out, beautiful views and good food. However, I didn't think the food was exceptional enough to warrant paying the price tag on each dish, but I guess you're also paying for the name and the view.
Would I go back? Maybe for special occasions...
Read moreWe had visited Colony Club House and Grill for the Sunday Brunch. The restaurant is at the top floor of Grand Hyatt, Kochi and is having a posh ambience as expected. There is live music and ad-hoc magic shows by Mr. Anas which was really spectacular. The staff also were quite friendly.
The food whatever were served were just amazing with lot of continental dishes which included lobsters, chicken, beef and fish, especially the tenderloin beef steak was worth special mention. The soup and salads were also very tasty. The pancake, waffle and Beef spaghetti were also amazing. The desserts spread were also quite good and truly continental. There was also mock-tails and cocktails available on request. There were stalls for burgers and egg varieties as well.
However the disappointing part was that there were a lot of missed orders (which were part of the ad-hoc order menu which they had provided) namely, Veg Mushroom based Pasta (reminded 4 times, never delivered) 2, Non veg Mushroom based Pasta (reminded 3 times, never delivered) Strawberry smoothie (reminded 5 times, never delivered) Chocolate Milk Shake (reminded 4 times, never delivered) Mexican wrap (Delivered after reminding the 5th time) Beef Bolognese Spaghetti (Delivered after reminding the 4th time) And the list doesn't end there, there were atleast 10 items which had to be reminded multiple times to get it delivered. It looked as if the staff were overburdened with lot of guests and hence they were not able to remember any of the orders. It has to be noted that the staff were not noting our orders as well in either paper or tab.
Overall it was a mixed experience. The food was just amazing and was simply exceptional, but when we are dining at Grand Hyatt, we except more exclusivity and the orders to be delivered without...
