Dakshin - The Veg — Restaurant in Kerala

I have been frequenting this restaurant since 20+ years due to the proximity factor. I have been witnessing a steady decline in the Food quality, Hygiene and Service levels. The only thing that has seen an uptick is the prices of the items.

Recently while ordering, I requested the cash counter guy to pack the items in a plastic box as it was meant for a person travelling by train. The cash counter guy politely told me that plastic containers are not available, however he will wrap it in aluminium foil container but the parcel charges would be Rs.10/- and I paid for the same. But the guy at the self-service counter was so adamant that he refused to pack in the aluminium foil container and was seen shouting at the guy sitting at the cash counter. Since I had no time to argue with these morons as it was time for the train, I took the parcel and walked away.

The people manning the cash counter are just dumb bunnies. Service at the self-service counter is too bad. Hygiene has gone for a toss, but then the same is applicable to all the hotels in Kerala since the influx of the people from North East India into the Kerala hotel kitchens. If one uses the washroom at the first floor, you will never re-visit this place. You can see the owner coming only at night around 10 p.m. just for picking up the collections for the day with little or no involvement in the day-to-day affairs. This hotel thrives on the floating population as KSRTC bus stand is nearby and is least bothered about regular customers. Also there are no good alternatives in the vicinity in terms of vegetarian outlets (Ruchi Bhavan in the next building, though not great, is better than Dakshin in terms...

I visited this place during one of the ramalan season otherwise I wouldn't have.why would any non veg foodie be visiting a veg restaurant at kozhikode when we have rahmath, paragon kind of restaurants. I only ate one ghee roast and tea but it was not good as the one I tasted from surya bhavan Malappuram Plus they offer self service at ground floor. The staff were behaving as if the customers were beggars(not all but some of the delivery staff). The reason I said this because when we hand over the bill to delivery they were not answering our queries as if they don't give a f* about it. They didn't even care about supplying customers additional chutney , sambar or curries . We can't go everytime time to supplier for our needs with plate . I will never visit this place nor would i recommend this place to anyone. Perhaps they offer better service at the air conditioned...

I’ve been a regular customer of this restaurant for over half-a-decade and I’ve never been disappointed to date. It’s nothing more than a typical pure veg hotel, so don’t expect the ambience and style of the restaurant to take your breath away.

But, the food will surely make your belly feel happy. Reasonably Priced and Super Delicious Veg Dishes is the shortest and simplest way to describe the experience. The time taken to deliver the order is also not bad compared to many restaurants

Secondly, it’s located just opposite to the main KSRTC bus stand in Kozhikode, which is a blessing for all those who’ve had a long bus journey and seek a refreshing meal.

Overall, you’ll be satisfied with the money you and the food you ate here.

Oh oh, BTW, there’s a waiter called Karthik. I highly recommend him guys. He’s so polite and friendly. One of the best waiters...
