Going by the hype went to try out Veg Mantra which is just above the Saravana Bhavan hotel near to stadium and bus stand. The ambience is nice and dining area is really spacious. The menu is smaller than what I've expected, but loaded with exotic items which you might not find anywhere else.
I ordered 'Khowseuy' - a Burmese noodle soup kind of dish which is an old favorite. I can't say that's the best I had, but it was neither bad 👍 It was kinda adapted to Kerala cuisine and lacked the original flavour, but you wouldn't know unless you've tasted the actual dish before. Nevertheless I enjoyed it.
Then came 'Simple Stir Fried Rice' which was my favorite thing of the day. Though it says 'simple' in the name, they've got a rich mix of fresh veggies, nuts and raisins. Altogether it was a delight to have even without a side dish.
We decided to experiment with 'Paneer Zaffrani' which I have not tried before. Honestly I don't know the difference from Paneer Butter Masala. But I liked it anyway 😊 It was better suited for roti or nan, sadly I couldn't try that because I was feeling full 😂
The pricing is not that expensive considering we three people shared the meal. The food was fine as far as 'fine dining' which they're trying to bring. But as someone in this group rightly pointed out, the service need to be fine tuned ☺ I will be definitely coming...

The sadya itself was a masterpiece—a delightful array of flavors and textures, each dish perfectly balanced and meticulously prepared. Every bite showcased the restaurant’s dedication to quality and tradition. The variety of items, the freshness of ingredients, and the attention to detail were exceptional.

Read moreI had ordered a north thaali and let me tell you , I was way disappointed to see the way the north thaali was served. There was no sabjis at all..!! Just some jeera rice, butter paneer, dal roti, dahi, gulab jamun...thats it !! There was no aloo matar,no bhindi, no ghobi, nothing !! Is this how you serve the north thaali in a very local manner and make a fool out of your customers ???! Absolutely non sense !! And the price was also not worth it for the food they serve. The counter person said, they have no north indian customers and thats why they serve this way !? How ridiculous and lame !! At least have some standard in serving a north thaali. If a south indian customer goes to some restaurant and for south thaali if he is served with just rice, sambhar and pappadam , do you think that would be acceptable and customer would be satisfied with the food ?! So think about it, when you serve such kind of food. Else remove that north thaali from your menu list. It makes no sense to have it this way. Your customers are not beggars..they pay you for the food and treat them in a nice way by serving some quality food. I will never recommend this stupid...
