I recently dined at this hotel and tried their Thali meal. While the initial presentation was appealing, I found that the meal did not quite meet expectations. The soup served at the beginning was rather thin and resembled vegetable-infused water rather than a hearty, flavorful broth, and it lacked visible vegetable content.
The meal continued with what was meant to be a selection of curries. Traditionally, one would expect a Thoran, a Mezhukuu (upperi), and a more substantial, well-textured curry—such as an aviyal—that offers a satisfying consistency. Unfortunately, the curries here were overly liquid, falling short of the customary, solid texture that is typically anticipated.
Additionally, the meal included only plain white rice, with no alternative options like brown rice available. Given that many similar establishments in Thiruvananthapuram offer a diverse range of curries and more comprehensive Veg Thali meals for under 150 Rs (often including a fruit salad or juice), the price of 180 Rs per meal seems a bit steep.
I hope the management takes this feedback into consideration to improve the quality and authenticity of their Thali meals. If you prefer a more traditional and robust Veg Thali experience, you might want to explore other nearby...

Read moreThe hotel Saravana bhavan is one of the most well known vegetarian hotels in the southern part of India but I think this is one of the worst hotels by Saravan bhavan. The Good The service was good, the people were very friendly and they came to our table as soon as we came.No much of a waiting time. The tea and coffee were good and kesari was too sweet since I like things too sweet, I liked it but my family didn't. The underwhelming aspects The food was just not up to the usual sharavan bhavan standards the sambhar was bland the chutney lacked flavour and I cannot believe I am saying this the dosa was too much crispy(it was just crisp no soft parts were present) like pappad. The poori was dripping oil and the vegetable curry lacked flavour I couldn't taste anything. Worst. The place was a complete mess, I was too hesistant to sit on my chair the place was dirty and was very messy. I hope the people responsible sees this and correct their...
