do you want to have a kerala sadya (special yummy kerala vegetarian meals served during wedding functions) Trivandrum any day.. ? then this is the place.. go to this almost 70 year old authentic restaurant named Kumar Cafe near killipalam round about and gift your taste buds a splendid afternoon with tasty food..'made with love'..
it's evident from each and every curry that the cooks here are specially talented to make the food so tasty and wanting.. despite the heavy demand of the families waiting to have one time afternoon meals.. sometimes it's difficult to grab a seat as soon as you reach here.. as there are plenty of craving and starving stomachs on the queue.. but wait a minute.. don't be disappointed.. this is one shop, you'll be served meals even at late hours after lunch time.. we had it at after 3.00pm..
the ground floor is for the general public and the upper one is for families.. there is generally enough seating in the building.. seems like there is kitchen upstairs as well.. there is hardly any delay in serving.. the staffs there are quite busy serving the crowded seats, yet they find time to come to you and bring your food to the table.. they are friendly and service minded..
not knowing fish curry was served along with the meals which is about Rs 150, i ordered for mackerel fry as well.. so the meal became slightly expensive for me.. my wife ordered coin porotta with beef fry, which she said is quite good..
couple of things you need to remember while visiting here is.. if you reach in a car, you might have to park the vehicle outside the building, near by road sides.. sometimes you may have to park far off and walk back as the traffic here is quite busy.. but never mind.. a small walk adds to your appetite and you'll have quite a good meal to take in.. another thing is to start bit earlier to avoid the crowd.. always have half hour extra in your schedule to eat from here.. sometimes it can be delayed due to rush..
it was slightly stinking near the kitchen when we visited here.. otherwise things were intact.. the wash area is clean in general..
so good luck, go Kuamar Cafe.. the authentic meal of Trivandrum...

I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for years, frequently dining with my family. However, my recent experience was nothing short of insulting and disappointing.
During our visit, we ordered a decent selection of food and requested some curry. The waitstaff, rather than politely declining, responded in an unapologetically rude manner, stating that they “don’t do it” and “don’t have instructions to give it.” The issue was not the refusal itself but the dismissive and disrespectful tone used. As a woman, I felt particularly disregarded, with no basic courtesy extended.
When I reported this to the cashier, instead of addressing my concern, he mockingly asked, “You’re making an issue over a curry?” I clearly explained that my concern was not about the curry itself but the way it was handled. Yet, instead of resolving the situation, he remained indifferent. To make matters worse, after my brother made the payment, this staff member gestured with his hand for us to leave—a highly insulting and unacceptable behavior, especially towards a female customer.
This restaurant was once a great place for families to dine out and spend quality time. The food is undoubtedly good, and they do have a strong customer base. However, the night staff are extremely rude, unapproachable, and show no regard for customer satisfaction. Despite lodging a complaint, no action was taken, making it evident that they do not value their customers’ concerns.
I strongly advise against visiting this restaurant, especially for women or families looking to dine out at night. The staff’s behavior is unprofessional and disrespectful, making it an uncomfortable and unwelcoming environment. To the owner—having a good number of customers does not equate to customer satisfaction. It’s time to address these serious issues before they tarnish your restaurant’s...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to visit a restaurant that catered to the taste buds of middle-class families. While there were some noteworthy aspects that made my dining experience enjoyable, there were a few downsides that I couldn't overlook.
Let's start with the positives - the food! The culinary offerings at this establishment were simply delightful. Each dish I tried was prepared with care and attention to detail. The flavors were well-balanced, and the ingredients used were of excellent quality. From appetizers to desserts, there was a wide variety of options that would please even the pickiest eaters in a middle-class family.
On the downside, the parking space was quite small. Finding a spot was a bit of a challenge, especially during peak hours. If you're planning to visit during busy times, it's advisable to arrive early or consider alternative transportation options. However, it's important to note that the inconvenience of parking was outweighed by the quality of the food and service.
Speaking of service, it was one of the highlights of my visit. The staff members were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure that my dining experience was enjoyable. They were knowledgeable about the menu, provided helpful recommendations, and promptly addressed any requests or concerns. The service staff truly made me feel welcome and valued as a customer.
In summary, this restaurant is a great option for middle-class families seeking good food and excellent service. While the small parking space can be a minor inconvenience, the overall dining experience is worth it. Whether you're looking for a casual family dinner or a special occasion meal, this place offers a diverse menu that will satisfy everyone's taste buds. Just be sure to plan your visit accordingly, considering the...
