My worst food experience of 2024 happened when my friend and I visited a restaurant. While placing our order, the lady taking the order showed us some fish. We specifically asked for the price of tilapia fish, and she told us it was 300. She added that if we wanted it prepared as pollichathu, it would cost 360. We agreed and placed the order.

While waiting, we noticed a manager-like person continuously shouting at the staff and being particularly rude to the lady who took our order. This was unsettling, but we brushed it aside.

When the bill arrived, we were shocked to see the fish pollichathu priced at 480 instead of the 360 she had mentioned. We questioned this at the counter, and they called the lady to clarify. To our surprise, she started arguing with us, insisting that she never said 360 and claiming their pollichathu prices always start at least 150 above the fry price. Both my friend and I clearly remembered her saying 360, and we were absolutely sure about it.

Despite this, she continued to argue, implying that we were lying. Feeling frustrated and disappointed, we simply said, "Okay, chechi," and left. The experience left us with a bad experience because of the price discrepancy but also due to how poorly the situation was handled, but yeah their masala was good. It felt like the staff lacked proper communication and coordination. If there is no menu, the person taking orders should at least be fully aware of the pricing.

Adding to the disappointment was the unprofessional behavior of the manager, who constantly berated his staff in front of customers. It gave the impression that the restaurant was more focused on quickly filling tables than genuinely serving customers. Overall, the experience was extremely disheartening, and the food was definitely not worth 480. They could learn a lot from the small thattukadas about how to treat customers and provide...

Went there seeing reviews in google and youtube videos. Eventhough the recent google reviews were not that good, wanted to explore as the youtube videos from sometime back looked promising. However was totally dissatisfied. The food and ambience was very bad, cost was unimaginably high. Be careful with the addon, you can't imagine how they can dent your pocket

Food - Vazhayilayile oonu was so-so. It was not very good was not bad as well. But for 80/- it was surely on the pricier side. Many outlets server better ones for 60/- Addon 1 Fish pollichathu- Addons are priced extraordinaly high. Please make sure to cehck price before ordering. We ordered and Eari pollichathu(medium sized) at an exobiant price of 690 Rs. They are looting customers. It was very oily too. Addon 2 -Meen mulakittathu - Was priced at 180/- .Taste was Was ok. However price is still on higher side. Service - Service was pathetic. Staff were not pleasant or energetic. Did not seem to be interested in serving customers. No one even had a pleasant outlook especially the girls serving were looking as if they are forced into this job. Cleanliness - The kitchen and the place where food was kept for serving was very cluttered. The food rest place before service was near the wash area and did not look clean at all Ambience - Very poor. Looks like you are going to a thattukada. Not in line for the price you are paying Parking - Parking available only 3-4 cars. Not enough for the number of seats in the restaurant

All in all had the worst experience I had at an outlet. If you want to take a chance despite negative reviews on google like I did, get ready to embrace an utter...

OMG a narrow escape from a monstrous clutches indeed...ordered some good looking fish fries as a devoted seafood lovers to grace the occasion of my wife's Bday, ordered a kalanchi fry, Punnarameen fry, two prawns (small plate )and a Kera curry....guess the bill...its 3760/- yes you heard it right 3760/- ..reason for the same our high end car it seems as all other customers were paying in smaller tickets with a billing speed of not more than a minute..our bill evaluation took more than half an hour as the team mates were busy discussing the special rates for us (sic)... I would like to call this an organised crime scene scenario as no other verb could actually solemnise my anguish and exhaustion... Watch out guys though the reels are cinematic reality is bitter harsh in this world.. I endorse a negative star if any and concluding my thoughts there.... We happily walked out without buying the sacred dish after giving a mouthful of sound advise to the team adding to their well deserved business strategy...

We ordered three meals and some fish side dishes today, with one veg meal as takeaway. The food was tasty, but the service was very disappointing. Despite ordering the takeaway at the same time as our dine-in meals and being assured it was ready when we checked, they hadn’t even started packing it when we paid the bill. We had to wait extra time for it, which was inconvenient but we didn’t mind too much. However, the real issue was the careless packaging. The parcel wasn’t properly sealed or secured, no rubber band, no tight wrapping, not even the corners tucked in. It was placed upside down in the bag, and when we took it out, it fell face first on the floor. Everything spilled! To make matters worse, there’s no phone number listed anywhere to contact the restaurant. The parcel was meant for our mother, so we had to reorder food from Swiggy and wait another 45 minutes for delivery. Extremely poor service and shockingly careless takeaway packing. Even a child could have done a better job. Totally unacceptable experience!

Meenchatty Restaurant is located along the Ernakulam-Thrissur Highway. We visited this place without high expectations, but it turned out to be a delightful surprise. While seated in the upper lobby, a lady brought a large tray filled with fish marinated in flavorful masala, along with different varieties of fish curry, meen peera, meen mutta, and more. Larger fish like kalanchi, hamour, and para are priced according to their weight and preparation. The food was exceptional. A meal costs only ₹80 per person, and the fish curry (kera choora) priced at ₹180 was enough for three people. Everything was served on a traditional banana leaf, adding to the experience. The restaurant has limited parking space in front, but the friendly and attentive staff made our visit enjoyable.
