This edit is added on November 2022 Taking time to review again because I was impressed again about this restaurant. Mathais group will not cut corners nor compromise on quality . And the prices are at par with most of the like rated restaurants .

Today a friend of mine said we would go here for the alfaham (charcoal grilled chicken) he is 90 yrs and loves the alfaham here . So i tagged along , unfortunately alfaham was only in the making and the said that it would be atleast half an hour for it to be served . So we were looking for alternatives .

I looked at the menu which was printed on the paper table mat so was comfortable to look into the menu nd decide at ease ( i hate it when they give the menu card at some restaurants and the waiter is just behind you , and then you make a wrong choice in haste ) But here they had a brilliant idea , the menu card is printed on paper table mats and the waitress gave us time to pick our order from the menu.

I saw mandhi on the menu and decided to have a quarter serving of beef mandhi . And my friend had a chicken biriyani.

I was not too expectant about the mandhi because of the over exploitation of kuzhimandhi that it's no more an excitement.

But mathais scored again ....... The mandhi was a culinary surprise The rice was flavourful and reminded me slightly of the mandhi in Jeddah . There was two medium sized beef pieces . ( I did the beef test that i do on beef biriyani and mandhi. That is pressed the beef with my index finger and the beef split with ease ) so the beef was excellent and the masala was good enough spicy . ( For beef this masala was apt but whenever they will do lamb mandhi they should go easy on the masala. But for beef it was a lovely masala ) There was mayonnaise ( not a fan of Mayo with mandhi but i hear some people love it that way .) And there was the shattah ( tomato garlic coriander etc sauce ) which was nice and then there was a veg salad . All these in small sauce bowls but good enough for a person's meal accompainment.

The restaurant is open with covid protocols in place , your temperature will be checked , sanitisers provided and then seating is restricted to strictly 2 people per table . So the kids sat at one table while we sat at another table . Seemed odd because we came in the same car . But later realised that it was a good practice because if they allow us then people who are not family may also sit together claiming to be family and then the whole idea of social distancing is lost.

They had two recently introduced food on the menu apart from the usual menu . The Arabian shawarma and the Al faham.(grilled chicken)

Ordered both . Was impressed with the shawarma , as always with Mathais bakery , very generous with ingredients.

Appreciate that the shawarma had chicken in the fore unlike other places where cabbage and onions would be overtaking the chicken flavour. Likewise sauces and mayo was in moderation . thus you can really get the barbecued chicken flavour.

One special note is that the rotisserie for cooking the chicken for the shawarma was horizontal and looked like the shawarma pit in Turkey .

Shawarma comes in option of roll or in a plate . With pickled vegetables .

The Al faham was also done well. Served with kubus , mayo , curd mint and picked vegetables

Oh and another thing , the pickled vegetables were crunchy and not soft . Small thing but I love places where they give you crunchy pickled vegetables.

Sure that this shawarma place will be loved .

The prices are decent and i think it is about 10 bucks lesser than other shawarma . Introductory pricing or may be the pricing will stay that way .

By the way mint flower is the same people who owns Mathais bakery.

Good...

Today I visited Mint flower restaurant with my family members, the server was plainly trying to cheat me by saying in mintflower they never give Plain gravy for parotta, I told him every time I visit Sultan Bathery from 2018 I am eating in mintflower and always they give Plain gravy. After all my family members completed our dinner, I went to billing to talk to the manager and he was not there, I told other senior waiters I saw many other tables with plain gravy, why I wasn't given, then they started to explain some nonsense.

I went to experience good food with hospitality, returned back cheated. The server who tried to cheat me after confronting him showing him other tables served Plain gravy was unapologetic and arrogant.

I know that many restaurants try to cheat their customers when they realize customer are from other state and don't share their language, but did not expect this...

Only if I could give zero stars, I would have given that. Pathetic service. We sat there for almost 10 min and no one bothered to even attend to us. It was not even crowded. One waiter saw us and I waved to him twice but he just stood there and didn't bother to even send another person. When we walked out asking them you don't have anyone to attend to people here... The person at reception and the same waiter just looked away, no apologies no regrets. Don't go there unless you have no other choice. Bad bad experience. Will never go...

I have ordered Butter chicken from this restaurant... They have mixed pieces from chicken manchurian and chicken tikka.. also utter flop... Got frustrated and left the place... After informing the matter at the counter, the lady was cold and non responsive... But the wheat porrotta was good... Never order butter chicken from this restaurant... Better they remove the dish from their menu.. Thank you

Summary, just objective findings: (After 2,3 outings here) Pros: - tastewise, not bad (nothing extraordinary) - value for money food - decent ambience - family friendly - covid protocols in place - clean environment Cons: - poor customer service - TIOLI attitude from personnel - insane waiting time - you may be left unattended - poor parking facility - ruins goodwill of Mathai's bakery nearby
