Thakkaaram Restaurant, Trivandrum — Restaurant in Kerala

With all the glamour, gimmicks and great food put up at the restaurant, it was astonishing to see that their air-conditioning was either absent, damaged or switched off on our visit. This could be a consequence of the COVID aftermath as all restaurants are trying to cut down on running capital.

We dropped by the place on a Sunday evening for dinner and parked our car in the vast front yard. We were greeted in well and shown to our seats. The restaurant designed in the model of an aircraft hangar with the model of an aircraft within the hangar. We were the second team to arrive for dinner at the restaurant and yet, all the fanciness was for nothing when we were given a seat outside instead of the interior of the aircraft. I don’t know whether the aircraft it is dummy model not meant for entering or it is really an indoor dining space.

I had fallen in love with their chemmeen cheenachattiyil vattichathu (wok tossed prawns) which was available at the MG road branch a long time back before it was shut down. I tried to order the same here, but to my great luck, the item was unavailable along with several other special. We grabbed our seats and had to order from the limited menu. Hope the menu curtailing too was part of COVID.

We went for the Mutton Manchattiyil vattichathu (Mutton cooked in Mud Pot) and hot-toasted parathas. The dish was tasty enough to be called appetizing and the parathas were freshly made. I thought of dessert, but again, their menu had close to nothing among the specials which are usually in high demand. As mentioned earlier, the non-AC situation was perspiring.

We left to another place for dessert with the feeling of partial satisfaction. I shall visit the place after all the COVID restrictions have been relaxed to get a bigger picture of the place. When we went to this place after the COVID-19 there was a feeling that this place is been closed for a long-time, there was such a kind of vibe.There is plenty area for parking and dining, the dining area was good, nothing special, the plane dining wasn't there, this place is huge but I miss the vibe in this place.

We ordered chicken pollichathu and parotta, the staff behaviour was good. The parotta served was hot and crispy, mayonnaise was excellent but the gravy we got tasted like a veg gravy. Let me tell you guys about the chicken, the one side of the chicken was only cooked, other side they didn't even cooked a bit, it was pure chicken's flesh, this happened to one of the chicken piece only, other pieces where also not cooked properly, but it was edible. Then we had to call the waiter and he took all of this back to the kitchen and cooked properly and got served. We didn't took picture of this, that could make more sensible.

The pricing was like we got robbed, we didn't even got a good dining experience from place and we had to pay premium price for that.

We have heard only good experience from this restaurant, this was unexpected. This is the first time I found a restaurant were they didn't cook the food properly and got served. I have to say a bad review for this, otherwise this can happen to anyone coming to this place.

I need to say, why can't you people cook the food properly and serve at the first time, when we got the chicken on second time it was delicious, why can't you do it on the first place. That's all

Me along with my 2 friends went to have food from Thakkaram restaurant , kazhakkoottam, Trivandrum ! We ordered 3 mutton biriyani and a chicken fry . As we were having food .. we noticed that the mutton is not cooked properly . So I called in the waiter and asked him . He agreed that it’s not cooked well. But he called someone and I don’t know what the person said . But he was like I can change that peice if you want . I asked him what if something happens to us as we already had a portion . He was giving silence . I took a video of our conversation without him knowingly which was later told to him .

I payed the bill 1455rs /- and as we were doing it .. one of my colleague got blacked out . We took care of Her and these pathetic guys over there were moving away from us . They were behaving like they don’t care . One guy was saying .. you do what you can do . This is unacceptable! Not in this period . Now after reaching home .. me along with the other guy is having diarrhoea. Stomach is completely upset . We have made necessary complaints to the authorities along with the evidence that I have got . If you have gots kids .. or if you are human please don’t go to this hotel ever .
