Annapurna Restaurant — Restaurant in Kolkata

This one was a small joint near Sealdah Station opposite to Surendranath College. There was hardly 14 people could sit at once. The dine was little into the underground where the kitchen was on the first floor. The place didn't look very clean neither it was decorated. An old fashioned TV & a refrigerator full of cold drinks were kept on a side. It was non AC, so old style fans were hanging on the dirty walls & some led strips for decoration.

They served an odd combination of menu with Chinese & South Indian dishes on it. We decided to go with Chinese, So we simply ordered Egg Hakka & Gravy Chowmein for us. They took quite a long to serve it on our table.

Surprisingly their food quality was good. The quantity on the first glance looked very average. Hakka Chowmein was deeply fried & with good amount of spices but it was little oily. On the other hand gravy chowmein tasted lite. Overall the food tasted decent.

It is and Indo-Chinese eatery. The taste is very good. The best chowmin I have ever tasted. Must try items are Special Schezwan Chowmin (₹140, half), Mix Schezwan Chowmin (₹115, half), Chicken Steamed Momo (₹90, 6 pieces), Chicken Pan Fried Momo (₹120, 6 pieces), Hot Garlic Fish (₹130, 4 pieces). The provide a soup with Chicken Steamed Momo which lacks of spices but the momos with the chutney taste very good. The Hot Garlic Fish smells sometimes when they don't use Kolkata Bhetki otherwise it is mouthwatering. The gravy is also very good. The quality of food was good but the seating arrangement was a bit too close and the height of the floor was also too low for me. The quality of service was moderate but the thing that I didn't like was that after we paid the bill the waiter straight up asked for a tip and that also in a rude manner. I mean like it's up to me whether I should give a tip or not, who is he to say that. And moreover I neither liked the environment nor the service so why should I give...
