Azad Hind Dhaba in Thakurpukur aims for that classic roadside dhaba feel, and in some aspects, it delivers. Located conveniently on Diamond Harbour Road, beside the Bharat Petrol Pump in Kadamtala, it offers a familiar spread of North Indian dishes. Food The food quality and taste seem to elicit mixed responses. Some reviewers rave about the authentic taste and juicy Tandoori Chicken, while others find the dishes just average or, at times, disappointing. Popular choices include their Tandoori Chicken, Dal Makhani, Paneer Butter Masala, and various Kebabs. However, specific dishes like the Dal Makhani and Tandoori roti have drawn criticism for not meeting expectations in terms of authenticity and preparation. Some customers also reported issues with the quality of meat in certain dishes. A highlight is that they do not use artificial colors in their food. Service Unfortunately, service appears to be a major point of concern for many. Numerous reviews mention slow service, long waiting times, and, at times, unprofessional staff behavior. However, some experiences indicate polite and friendly staff, suggesting potential inconsistencies in service quality. Ambiance The ambiance, as intended, mirrors that of a classic roadside dhaba. Some reviewers appreciate the rustic charm and mention pleasant light music. There are comfortable seating options, including outdoor seating for those who enjoy the open-air atmosphere. In terms of cleanliness, while toilets are generally noted as hygienic and clean by some, there are mentions of hygiene issues in the kitchen area in some reviews. Value for Money Opinions on value for money are divided. While some consider the prices reasonable for the food quantity and quality, others find them on the higher side. It's recommended to consider the portion sizes and compare them to the prices before ordering. Conclusion Azad Hind Dhaba in Thakurpukur can be a hit-or-miss experience. If you're seeking a casual, roadside dhaba ambiance and crave North Indian cuisine, it might be worth a visit. The Tandoori Chicken and some of the kebabs seem to be consistent favorites. However, be prepared for potentially slow service and consider checking recent reviews for up-to-date feedback on food quality and pricing. The availability of outdoor seating and clean restrooms can be a plus, but potential hygiene concerns in the kitchen...
Read moreAzad Hind Dhaba is a two-faced restaurant. Dining there is fine - Average food, cozy atmosphere, some waiters are rude while some are awesome, more than usual waiting time. So 1 star for that. Online food ordering is a completely different issue: You order food item A, item B will arrive. Multiple instances - latest ones being getting naan instead of masala kulcha and getting shredded chicken when it was CLEARLY mentioned 3 pieces in the Zomato/Swiggy menu. Suppose you're having a group of people at your house, you order X 'PIECES' of Chicken Butter Masala... and you get an abomination of Chicken Bharta. On being called (oh, that too after 10 mins. or 6-7 tries of calling) they first disagreed that the wrong item had been delivered. They insisted that BUTTER CHICKEN IS NOW SHREDDED... BREAKING NEWS. Customer dissatisfaction has led to butter chicken being shredded. I can almost hear a million Punjabi dhabas cry from a distance. Then they said the shop had incurred a HUGE LOSS by delivering BONELESS BUTTER CHICKEN when they should've delivered one with bone (we had ordered Boneless 'Butter Chicken Masala (3 pieces)' on Zomato). At this point of the phone call, I lost it. This happened today and the naan incident happened a few weeks back. Last year I overlooked these things due to the pandemic situation but this has become serial behavior for them. Fck Azad Hind Dhaba and fck the person who I talked to. Your establishment is a joke and I hope...
Read moreThe service is quick. Pretty quick considering the dishes we ordered couldn't have been pre-prepared.
The ambience is nice and clean. A perfect place for a dinner with family. Nice and spacious.
The food tasted quite average nothing extraordinary for the price, the prices aren't too high but compared to the price they are surely not up to the mark. Even the bread - naan was too tough and burnt. The peas pulao was too oily and it lacked the nice aroma of a pulao. Even the butter paneer lacked butter and the sahi paneer tasted just normal and nothing that would tickle your taste buds. The biriyani tasted good but the chicken was tough and even though we asked them for a leg piece specifically they served us a breast piece. In short the food is really average.
The drawback at this place would be that the waiters don't listen carefully what you're ordering and get you something wrong. That was a huge disappointment. They also charged us wrong amount for the naan and told us the prices have changed and the menu cards are old. This was...
