Calcutta Bakery Cafe / restaurant is located in Ganguly Bagan. Just opposite to K.C Das and 2mins from Ganguly Bagan more. This place isn't that much spacious but can easily accomodate 10-12 people. The service is fast and prompt. They have an elaborate menu starting from continental to chinese to Indian and the best part is they serve amazing Biryani combos as well and their biryani is extremely delicious.

This is probably a great place to chill with your friends over a good cup of coffee or to have lunch/dinner date with your partner and enjoy some lipsmacking dishes at an affordable price. I went along with a bunch of my college friends and ordered few of the dishes :

Shahi tandoor roll (Rs.195/-) : Worth the price and it was so extremely delicious. It had chicken and between those layers of chicken it had filled mutton keema. Loved it.

Chicken Ala Kiev (Rs.330/-) : This dish takes some prep and practice, but it is sooo worth it! The first cut into the chicken releases a flavorful stream of hot butter which makes the chicken incredibly tender.

Wheel of happiness(Rs.450/-): It has 5 types of snacks there: French fries,BBQ chicken wings, chicken lollipop, cheese balls, fish fingers.Perfect starter.

Oreo nut shake(Rs.180) : Nothing extra ordinary for this price. It was pretty basic. Berry strawberry booster (Rs.170) :Very refreshing taste and it worked as a palate cleanser.

Now comes the best part which was Biryani : Chicken Biryani : It was amazing in taste. The biryani was very light and the aroma was so appetizing. Totally worth Rs.180/. The chicken pieces were very soft. And the flavours were on point. Mutton Biryani : Coming second on the popularity list is Mutton Biryani, which is prepared using their flavourful spices and herbs. It tasted amazing as well. The mutton pieces were so perfectly cooked. The marination time of mutton can also vary in all these methods, which directly impacts the tenderness and the flavour of the meat. Worth every penny.( Rs.190) Schezwan fried rice chicken- Rs.170 : It was good in taste. Could be a bit more better. Cheese kabab- Rs.390: Try this lip- smacking and delicious Cheese Chicken Kebab here and you won't be dissapointed. You will find this one far better than what most or the overhyped places of Kolkata serves. Kung pao chicken-205 : I think they need to improve a bit their chinese items so that it could match the level of the north indian dishes because they are sooo delicious.

Overall, i had a great time trying this new place out and absolutely loved the food here. Going to visit this place more often.

Until next time,...

Calcutta bakery cafe is a newly opened cafe which is located at Gangulybagan opposite to Trishul oil mill. If your are near Jadavpur or Garia and looking for a cafe with great food then this place is perfect for you. Ambience of this place is so attractive. Walls are decorated with vibrant colourful designs and attractive stuffs. They have a good collection of story books. This place is not so big having seating arrangement of nearly 25 people at once but well maintained. They serves mainly Italian and continental items. I had tried, Continental :

Mediterranean burger- juicy burger served with cheese sauce. Taste was so good and chicken was so tender. Poisson acidulee- Golden fried crunchy fellets of fish served with fresh salads and creamy sauce. Chicken Ala Kiev- This was one of the best ala kievs i've ever had. Highly recommended Chicken Roulad- chicken breast pieces stuffed with herbs and cheese and baked and served with herb rice. Taste was so good and unique. Bunker fries chicken- crispy golden french fries and spice infused shredded chicken tossed with cheese and herbs and topped with some special cheesy sauce. Wheel of happiness- This is a wholesome starter item with french fries ,cheese balls, bbq chicken wings, chicken lollipop and fish fingers. I love all items but among them chicken ala kiev was the showstopper. Staffs here are polite and courteous. Calcutta street is located at Gangulybagan opposite to gangulybagan bazar and Trishul oil mill. If you are looking for some lipsmacking chinese and mughlai items this is the perfect place for you. This is basically a takeaway joint. I had tried their 2 special roll, Dahi roll. Sahi tandoor roll Dahi roll was truely amazing and i tried it for the first time. Chicken cubes and raita rolled within soft and hot paratha. Sahi tandoor roll is one of their special rolls. Minced chicken stuffed within mutton and rolled within paratha with some onion and spices. Taste was too good. I had also tried Chicken and Mutton Biriyani. Tangri kabab. Cheese kabab. Kababs were truely amazing. Tangri kabab was juicy and flavourful. Chicken cheese kabab was lipsmacking and the chicken was so tender. If you are a cheese lover then do try this. Both chicken and mutton biriani was great it came with 2 piece of chicken and mutton, 1 potato which is the most important part of Kolkata biriani and one egg. I had also tried some of their chinese items among them i like to recommend Fried rice ,Kung pao chicken and teriyaki fish. Quatity of each item was perfect and sufficient. Prices are...

What Makes It Awesome

Good news for all you people staying between Jadavpur and Garia!

There's a new cafe that's opened in Ganguly Bagan and we'd definitely recommend a visit. Located near the Baghajatin Big Bazaar, Calcutta Bakery Cafe is the latest addition to a host of new ones that have opened in the city. It's a quaint little space serving a scrumptious spread of quick bites, munchies and a whole lot of Chinese, Continental and Indian food.

With a seating space for just 20 people, Calcutta Bakery Cafe is beautifully done with books and decorative items on one of its walls while the other portrays the rich history, heritage and culture of the city with Victoria Memorial, Howrah Bridge, Shaheed Minar and other very 'Calcutta' things painted on the wall. They've used a lot of coloured glasses, fancy lights, wood panels and other props to do up the space and it sure doesn't disappoint.

From kebabs, finger food, pakoras, kachoris and all day breakfast to pasta, pizza, burger and Chinese food, the cafe serves it all. The very popular and buttery Chicken ala Kiev served with mashed potatoes and sauteed veggies is a must-have while you're here. We quite enjoyed our ride on the Wheel of Happiness that's got Cheese Balls, French Fries, Fish Finger, Chicken Lollipop and BBQ Chicken Wings in small portions. But if it's eggs that you prefer, then Fluffy Eggs is just the dish for you. They've got a lot of options to choose from.

Just adjacent to the cafe is their takeaway joint called Calcutta Street that serves rolls, biryani, and Mughlai dishes. They also do a wide selection of sinful desserts and cakes. So, if you've got a birthday or wedding cake to order, you know where to go!

What Could Be Better

The pasta wasn't that great. Also, some of the food is high on salt while some really low. They need to strike a balance.

Pro-Tip

The cafe is open to hosting workshops and book reading sessions. So, get in touch with them if...

The recently relocated Calcutta Bakery Cafe, at Sulekha, Jadavpur is an addition to the tough competition in South Kolkata Cafes. This particular cafe, is very widely known to serve one of the biggest pizzas in this city! Although I had visited the Old Outlet at Ganguly Bagan, thats had a seating space for just 10-15 people, Calcutta Bakery Cafe is beautifully decorated with books and decorative items on one of its walls while the other portrays the rich history, heritage and culture of the city. They had used a lot of coloured glasses, fancy lights, wood panels and other props to do up the space and it sure doesn't disappoint. But I was in disbelief that they weren't serving the large pizzas the day i had visited, so we settled for an alternate order with more variety on the table. My order: ❗Pepper Barbeque Pizza ❗Mediterranean Sandwich 4/5 ❗Nasi Goreng Well, judging by their general large sized pizza, I would say, their massive sized pizzas won't be a great deal. I have reason to say this, and I hope the criticism is taken constructively. The base was very dry. I got a feel, that the base was pre-made, which would also be unlikely because they took an enormous amount of time to serve it. The sauce was not sufficient and we were not a big fan. The Nasi Goreng, an Indonesian Style Fried Rice, with Prawn Wafers was much loved by my friend. For first timers, Nasi Goreng has a strong fish stench, and only if you like that, you should get it. As for me sandwich with fries and dips, it was fresh and healthy. The veggies were fresh and crunchy, much to my liking. Pocket Pinch: ₹1200 for 4
