Chowman is not just a brand. It is a passionate tale of a young musician-turned-entrepreneur unravel the true flavours of China.
Back in 2010, everything that Bengal knew about Chinese delicacies was inspired from the Chinese colony of Kolkata. While every street of Kolkata was seeing the rise of Indo-Chinese flavours, somewhere far, a young foodie, with immense passion for music was discovering his love for the Chinese cuisine. Growing up seeing the true love that Bengal holds for Chinese cuisine, this guy was dreaming of making something new! And that new was Chowman.
Chowman isn’t just a story of a dream come true, neither is it a tale of success. Chowman is instead the journey of a foodie who dared to bring a bend to the food narrative in Bengal.
An avid traveller, a dreamer by heart, and madcap by nature, Debaditya Chaudhury, also the founding member of popular Bengali Rock Band, ‘Lakkhichhara’ was travelling all over Asia learning the Chinese culture, understanding their food tradition.
Debaditya’s perception of Chinese food is not just seeing it as a cuisine. It is the perfect blend of flavours coming to life. And for Debaditya, bringing those exotic flavours onto the plates was a mission. Debaditya did not want to serve food; he wanted to serve passion on plates. And that traces back to the birth of Chowman.
Today, after 14 years, Chowman lives in the hearts of every Chinese lover! Synonymous to all thing Chinese; Chowman now is East India’s No.1 brand in Chinese cuisine. With a wide array of over 675+ menu and an amazing plethora of Thai and other Pan-Asian delicacies Chowman has got over 34 outlets in Pan India (23 Kolkata, 7 in Bangalore, 4 in Delhi NCR and 2 in Hyderabad) But that’s not all to it!
Chowman’s journey is ongoing, expansion with its next destinations introducing with a branch in Chandigarh, and in the South, we’re set to launch in Chennai. Furthermore, we’re planning to add four new outlets in Delhi in the near future in the South, followed by openings in Bombay and Pune in the West and in the North respectively.
The latest achievement for the brand is being featured in Disney+Hotstar’s new docu-series Brands of Tomorrow that chronicles the journey of new-age Indian brands at the forefront of innovation who have contributed in uplifting the spirit of entrepreneurship.
Debaditya Chaudhury, a popular face in the Food & Beverage industry is now taking the brand beyond for a national venture and recognition with the largest delivery fleet in Bengal and over 400k user downloads, Chowman is the sole brand in Chinese food that has reached unbelievable heights over the years. Currently, Chowman is making its nationwide presence and is soon about to enter the other metropolitans, serving some promising authentic Chinese delights to the people.

Read moreI would like to let you know that the quality of your restaurant food is 5 out of 5. But according to your customer services and the behavior of the staff, -5 on 5.
I am very disappointed about your service. Your Oudh's staff is really good but your Chowman's staff is very rude and not behaving well.
I went to your Patuli outlet today and ordered some food for parcel of Rs. 1,020/-. Also before order I have asked your staff how long it will take to make the order. Your worker who took the order said it would take a maximum of 20 minutes. Then I paid the money at 09:20 pm. and placed the order.
Then, I waited for more than 55 minutes and finally got my order at 10:15 pm. I asked your staff about 25 minutes later, how long it would take to give me the food I ordered. They did not answer any of it and on the contrary, they avoided me. They were just busy for those who were sitting. Even those who have come after my order placed, their food have been prepared before my orderd food. After I told many times, they have answered, your still have 1 meal to be prepared.
Is this your service? Do you just serve for those who go to eat for sitting customer? Or do I just have such a service for the order of only Rs. 1,020/-. If I placed Rs. 10,200/- order, then I got good service I think.
At least that's what it seems to your worker's words. They provide first those who are dine in , then provide online order services, then give parcel services. Even your staff said Patuli Chowman is Kolkata's largest Chowman. If you order here you have to wait. I've visited lots of your others store. But it has never been like that. Great service. This is what the takeaway...
Read moreOne of the best Chinese cuisine experiences of mine in recent years. Visited the Chowman outlet in Patuli, and surprisingly, we had no wait times and we got a table immediately.
The ambience inside was beautiful, with wall decors and artefacts giving you a truly Oriental feel.
Service was very good, and quite prompt. They have this buzzer on the table which sends a message on the server's mobile phone about which table has buzzed for something.
Food wise, we tried the following dishes:
Seafood Soup: A delicious hot bowl of soup to start our meal, this contained a variety of seafoods ranging from squid to shrimp to fish. Taste was good, salt was a little less but that could be adjusted. Rating: 4/5.
Fried squid in sweet chilli sauce: Easily the best dish of the night, the squid was cooked perfectly and the crispy batter was light and crunchy. The sweet chilli sauce was very flavourful and complemented the delicate flavour profile of the squid excellently. Rating: 5/5.
Deep fried barbeque pork ribs: Wanted to try this dish for a long time, but was slightly disappointed. The pork ribs had that nice fat cap to it, and the barbeque glaze was delicious, but the pork could have been cooked longer. They weren't cooked enough and were quite difficult to chew. Overall, the taste was very good, but the cooking duration let it down. Rating: 3.5/5.
Char siu pork bao: Another stand out dish - char siu pork with leafy greens and peanuts in a soft, sweet bao bun - taste was delicious and very highly recommended.
Overall, it was a very nice experience and the price is also very reasonable. Would definitely...
