Well I am a food lover, a food admirer, a connoisseur of good food, would even take the liberty to admit my obsessive self destructive lurid attachment with anything that stimulates my taste buds and this is an honest, heartfelt review from one such ardent food loving person. This restaurant used to be a decent one but I am impelled to hurl calumny at this joint because I could not stand the debased quality of the food served to me the last time I visited this place! I ordered a "Paneer Hakka noodles, a Chilli Paneer and a platter of crispy baby corn". The dishes did meet the description, prima facie, but one morsel into your mouth would instill a painful mastication that seems never ending, and only leading to a grotesque culmination into hogging it down to your stomach! Pardon my strong emotional critique of the dishes but I cannot help it. The paneer was so bland that I would love to use the cliched simile of 'saw dust'. No matter how many culinary platitudes I use here it would not be enough describing the utter disregard the cooks seem to have for the taste of their clientele. The Hakka noodles reminded me of the Hindi phrase "Hakka Bakka" (flabbergasted), which I was, as soon as I dared to gulp down the first morsel of it! Original report...
Rude waiter, strange manager, but food OK. I might return and try other dishes. I have realistic expectations.
You are paying for pure veg in a neighbourhood with very few such places. You are not paying for decor, obsequious service, view or even fabulous food. Be advised that much of the menu is available only 16:00 -22:00. This is not marked on the menu.
I asked for fresh lime (antimicrobial) and would gave been gappy to pay for this extra but instead was given a very small wedge in water, which I thought odd. We're they expecting me to wash my hands in it?
Jeera rice: glad cook added fresh green coriander leaves. But a bit oily for me.
Nagri kofta: acceptable
Dahi: good, offered custom salting.
Seating etc: seven large tables, decent hand-washing basin, old but charming decoration, unusual way owner has of communicating with staff (loud intercom), fresh anise breath freshener post-meal - standard but I enjoyed this extra.
Bill: INR446 w/ obligatory taxes of 5%. Waiter scowled at me then lectured me for leaving only coins as tip: "minimum ten rupees. Take it". This is the sort of behaviour I expect in Montreal,...
