Viennese coffee at Flury’s It is single expresso shot topped with whipped cream
In 1927, Quinto Cinzio Trinca joined hands with Joseph Flury and his wife Freida to start a Swiss confectionery and tea room on Park Street. It was called Flury & Trinca. The partnership thrived for 12 years and broke up in 1939 due to unknown reasons. Cinzio Trinca and his wife Lilly opened up another tea room, Trincas, which stood diagonally across Flurys at 17 Park Street. They ran it for 20 years and then sold it to Omi Puri and Ellis Joshua in 1959. He had been adamant the Tearoom be passed on within the Jewish community in Calcutta and Joshua’s presence in the new partnership was reassurance of that.
Flury’s served traditional European confection. It soon became the rendezvous of the young and the old, who savoured its exotic cakes, creamy pastries, rich puddings and the world’s finest chocolates. It upholds the same taste and quality of ingredients it must have done then (I wasn’t born then so not sure how they tasted :P)!
Their specialty is undoubtedly the cakes and puddings. Some brilliant food that you should try is the chocolate cube - an all time favourite! And other cubes if you prefer other flavours like strawberry and vanilla.
They also have a good collection of brownies and ready to go cookies. They have great birthday cakes you can order in advance!
Bonus tip: Visit the first opened store in Park Street for the feel of a 1927 based restaurant, with an unmissable fusion of Bengal. Going savoury- try their English breakfast (served only at breakfast timings).
To further enhance the restaurant experience, higher upkeep could do wonders. But all in all a must visit place to tick off your Kolkata...

Flurys is an iconic establishment for everything Kolkata! It’s been around since 1927, so you can imagine the nostalgia that is associated with this brand.
However I went for a nostalgia vibe and a historical moment but ended up pay a fortune for not-so-good breakfast. It is running because of its brand name.
They have a good collection of brownies and ready to go cookies and pastries.
