Sandwich Did you know that the name comes from John Montague, the 4th Earl of Sandwich in England whois believed to be the inventor of sandwiches because he was also a gambler and didn't like leaving his table for supper. This dish has come a long way and is a typical food with vegetables/ meat/ spices/ herbs/ sauces, filled between slices of bread. The varieties of bread used are plenty and so are the fillings. FOOD PEDDLER SANDWICHES, is a cloud kitchen located in South Kolkata, who is serving a variety of sandwiches and thankfully each differ significantly in their taste. I have tried 6 of their signature sandwiches and liked all them. They are filling and for an average person 1 sandwich = 1 meal. However, if you are a big eater 2 would be good for you. It's wholesome, freshly made and the bread is soft. Not exaggerating, but some of them were melt in the mouth.
Triple Layered Chocolate Sandwich - How about a sandwich for dessert? The filling is of chocolate sauce, nuts & nougats. I like how the flavour is balanced, not too sweet and not flowing in the sauce. The sandwich wasn't even soggy, though I ate long after it was prepared.
Triple Layered Tandoori Paneer Sandwich - This is my favourite sandwich. Generous layer of cheese, tandoori paneer, and a soft bread. Totally in love with this one!!
Triple Layered Seven Veggie Sandwich- Trust me if you don't like vegetables, and you have to eat them, you can choose this sandwich. It's delicious and creamy. The chopping of the vegetables is so fine that if won't come in your mouth.
Triple Layered Bombay Masala - This one is more of the roadside, streetfood flavoured aloo sandwich. Rich indian spices, yet subtle in taste. Would enjoy this one with ketchup or even the green chutney.
Triple Layered Chicken Sandwich- Chicken sandwich with cheese, mayo, salt and pepper is the best thing you could have. This one had extra cheese and I loved it!!
Triple Layered Egg Sandwich - For all the eggitarians our there, this creamy mustard mayo egg sandwich is your go to. I loved how the mustard didn't overpower the flavour of egg and mayo. It was balanced, this too was a melt in the mouth.
All the sandwiches are priced below ₹100 inclusive of taxes. They can do customized boxes as well for bulk orders at exhibitions, parties and college fests. I have attached the menu with the contact number. They are delivering through Swiggy and Zomato as well.

Read moreThe lockdown period is nearly coming to an end and we have to adjust with the new normal. Every industry is starting slowly by keeping in mind all the rules and regulations. Keeping all these in mind, few days back, I received few sandwiches and Pepsi from Food Peddler which were properly packed. The packing was nicely done, the sandwiches were covered with plastic cellophanes and then kept inside a nicely covered box and the Pepsi can was also covered with cellophanes. They maintain all the hygiene and safety measures.
Food peddler is a cloud kitchen, known for their speciality in making sandwiches. Their sandwiches are really heavy and very tasty. They have various types of sandwiches which you can check from their menu in zomato. Coming to the sandwiches I had:
• Tandoori Paneer Sandwich- When the smokey flavours of Indian spices infused with velvety texture of cottage cheese, be a vegetarian or non-vegeterian, you will surely fall in love with paneer. The elements used in this sandwich was paneer, onions, mayonnaise, chilli, coriander, Indian spices, salt and of course white breads.
• 7 Veggie Sandwich- Delicate mixture of seven zesty vegetables which are capsicum, onion, carrot, cucumber, cabbage, tomato and corriander, balanced with creamy mayo and flavourful herbs. I am a person who hates to have veggies, but loved the fusion of these seven veggies along with mayo.
• Egg Mayo Sandwich- The combination of egg, mayonnaise and breads form a perfect kind of sandwich, since ages. When the eggs are smashed into quite small piece and blended with cream mayonnaise, it becomes bliss. The triple layered sandwich with these smashed egg blended with mayonnaise along with a pinch of mustard was my favourite.
• Bombay Masala Sandwich- Most of us love to have the typical, spicy, Bombay street food, specially the Vada pav. This sandwich was an upgraded version of Vada pav, where the spicy preparation of mashed potatoes was filled inside the breads along with tomatoes and onions.
• Chicken Mayo Sandwich- The word chicken brings a different level of joy in my head. This sandwich is suitable for people of any age group as it was very light as well as tasty. The main elements in this one were chicken, onions and mayonnaise.
• Chocolate Sandwich- This will serve as a dessert sandwich which you must have if you are ordering from this place. You will feel paradise when the double layers of chocolate melts...
Read moreDuring this lockdown, when I was literally bored of having only homemade food, then I gotta a chance to try variety of sandwiches from Food Peddler. Firstly want to go to the current main concern for every foodie is whether the food joints are taking precautions or not. So here I want to say that this delivery was done by Swiggy, delivery man took every sort of precautions to avoid any kind of contamination. Delivery timing was also very punctual,Food Peddler is located near Kalighat but they deliver to broader range of areas. Next coming to the packaging, I just loved the packaging. They sent each sandwich on separate boxes. Interesting fact about those boxes is on every box of sandwiches, the name and ingredients of the sandwich and calorie count were mentioned. The sandwiches(non-grilled) I had tried were triple layered and price range of each is around Rs.100. According to the size of bread and the stuffing, the price seeme quite pocket friendly. The varieties of Sandwiches I had tried were- 7 Veggies, Bombay Masala, Tandoori Paneer, Egg Mayo, Chicekn Mayo, Chocolate. Before going to the taste, note down that the breads were fresh and soft like sponge. Stuffing of Bombay Masala Sandwich was obviously more like Vada of Vada Pav but not spicy at all. With nutella, chocolate syrup; they made the chocolate sandwich so it’s a must try for all the chocolate lovers. Tandoori Paneer is my personal favourite from all of the variety since I am a paneer lover, tasted fully like tandoori paneer. And the rest three sandwiches were variety of veg,egg and chicken. All of them were loaded with a lots mayonnaise and the respective stuffing main ingredients. So overall, if you are finding a sandwich place in a pocket friendly budget, then this place is highly...
