People say "Time is money" and I personally do believe that. But the restaurant taught me the hidden meaning of this line. We entered into the restaurant in the afternoon. Though it was situated on the top floor, and only escalator was available to reach there, they charged us 50/- per head. Okay it was fine. Instead of asking us to take our seats they asked us how much time we'll stay there. Later I deciphered that they'd charge us for our respective entrance. My partner replied them that we would stay until we completed our lunch. That was fine too. Then they asked us about the menu, and that time we were still standing at the reception, they had not asked us to have seats. We ordered veg thali, we chose rice over rooti and curd over sweet, they took the order and charged us more than it was mentioned at the outdoor and finally told us to get seats. We reached our table and saw that the coasters were unkempt. We got very disappointed then thinking why we came here, still got calm as we were hungry too. Not more than 5mins they took to come back with a plate consists of rooti as well as rice, some fries, one curry, daal, and sweet. My partner asked them first about their types of hospitality and then after watching sweet instead of curd, he told their stuff that we ordered curd. He again silently went back and changed the sweet with curd, though we didn't notice the rooti at that time. Now, the taste of foods was unpalatable and unhealthy. Nothing was even lukewarm, the rooti was too hard to chew, and all I could see in the curry is excessive oil. Somehow we managed to leave the place as soon as possible, but my partner got petulant and I had to drag him out of this hell by keeping his mouth shut. All I suggest never ever visit here as they are unable to even know how to take care of visitors and how to please them with...
Read moreToday, I visited the Jana Aahar counter at Sealdah Station to purchase a Janata Meal. Unfortunately, I experienced the same issue as on my previous visits.
I bought a token for ₹15, but despite waiting for over 10 minutes, the staff prioritized serving higher-priced meals to other customers while neglecting Janata Meal requests. Even after repeated follow-ups, I was not served my meal. Eventually, I had to return the token and collect my money back.
Additionally, I observed several hygiene concerns:
The Janata Meal boxes were left uncovered in the serving area.
Houseflies were hovering around the food, creating an unhygienic environment.
No ready-to-serve or packed meals were available for quick service, unlike other major stations in India.
As per Indian Railways’ guidelines, all government-authorized food counters must provide Janata Meals efficiently and hygienically, especially since they cater to daily passengers and budget travelers. However, both Jana Aahar and Neelam counters at Sealdah Station seem to neglect this responsibility repeatedly.
Due to this, I even missed my train today with nothing to eat. I sincerely request you to look into this matter urgently and ensure proper service and hygiene standards are maintained at these counters. #Indianrailway #railwayministry #easternrailway #sealdahstation #railservice #Irctc...
Read moreMy recent visit to Sealdah Food Track left me feeling both disappointed and frustrated. Despite spending a substantial amount of Rs. 1000, the food quality and quantity were far below expectations.
The veg thali, priced at a staggering Rs. 200, was a major letdown. It consisted of a meager portion of dal, curry, yogurt, and a papad. This is a combination that could be easily replicated at home or found at other establishments for a significantly lower price. To make matters worse, the food was not cooked thoroughly, and the paneer butter masala was overly laden with artificial food coloring.
The drinks, including the juices and shakes, were equally disappointing. They were bland and lacked flavor, suggesting that low-quality ingredients or improper preparation were involved.
In addition to the subpar food, the service at Sealdah Food Track was also lacking. The staff seemed uninterested and indifferent to the customers' needs. There was a noticeable lack of attention to detail and a general disregard for the customer experience.
Even the AC doesn't work here!!
Overall, I would strongly advise against visiting Sealdah Food Track. The overpriced food, poor quality, and indifferent service make it a regrettable experience. If you're looking for a satisfying and enjoyable dining experience, I recommend exploring other options...
