I heard about the pre booking system of Manzilat's but never got an opportunity to try out this place. On 10th November, morning I called Miss Manzilat and asked if any booking slot is available for that day at night and luckily I got a slot available in the night although it was a Sunday. Went with alot of expectations after hearing alot about them.
After reaching there, the ambience just pleased us. Having such food under the open sky with such soothing atmosphere just made our day much more beautiful. Now coming to the food, we ordered:
Mutton Awadhi Galawti Kebab (2 pcs, Rs. 380): Two succulent pieces of kebab topped with onion rings just looked like perfect mughlai Kebab. It was properly tendered with the spices, and just got melted in our mouth. It was so soft that we have to make an effort to put it as an whole in our plate. (5/5)
Ulta Tawa Paratha (1 pc, Rs. 110): Utterly soft paratha with almost no amount of oil was as soft as the Galawti Kebabs. It was a perfect accompaniment for any kind of kebab items but tasted best with the Galawti Kebab. (5/5)
Kalkatta Sahi Mutton Biriyani (2 qty, Rs. 520 each): It was served in a big a serving bowl with 2 big potatoes and 5 chunks of Mutton. One plate contains 1 big size of potato (can be easily shared by 2) and 2 chunks of Mutton. The pieces of mutton were perfectly boiled and have proper aroma of biriyani and the size were also decent. The spices were properly soaked into it. The biriyani was very light not too much overpowered with kewra or gulab jal essence. The rice were not too sticky nor too dry, it was perfectly cooked and were kept in dum for perfect amount of time. It was surely one of the place to have Biriyani in the Town. (5/5)
Shahi Badam Phirni (1 qty, Rs. 150): Perfectly topped dry fruits like almonds and pista the phirni tasted beautiful. It was just melt in mouth. One of the best phirni I have had till date. Perfect amount of thickness for the dessert item. (5/5)
*Note: 👍🏻 As a complimentary welcome drink they gave us Khas ka Sharbat, which was pretty good but a little heavy tinge of kewra and gulab jal in it.
The complementary Burhani with the biryani was a very good combination and helps to digest the food easily. A perfect taste of Bangladeshi burhani.
The behaviour of the staffs were very good. They will bring you the ordered food one by one from after few minutes of entering the place. They will took care of you while you are eating.
The ambience was also very nice. It was pleasent, soothing, mesmerizing, a perfect place to have your Mughlai food under the open sky.
The food quality was also very good. It was not atall oily which is big concern in Mughlai cuisine.
👎🏻 The only thing which can be improved, is the quantity of the food depending on the price they charge. 2 pieces of Galawti Kebab for 380 I think a bit more expensive. It will be ok if it has 4 pieces. The quantity of the Biriyani can improved a little but the mutton pieces were good it can be...
Read moreOver-hyped awadhi cuisine. We visited last night for dinner. The restaurant is located at roof top and there is no lift, you need to climb all the way up till 3rd floor. There is space crunch due to which you need to prebook. We were a group of 4, once we entered we were offered to sit inside a room with ac as rooftop was already filled. We reached at 8 pm and were waiting till 9 pm for our pre-ordered menu. On asking we were requested if we would like to be served food inside the ac room as rooftop was full which we agreed keeping in mind the heat and smoke filled rooftop as it was adjacent to the kitchen. Manzilat mam does the cooking with 2 helping hands where one was responsible for making paranthas and other for table service. We ordered 2 Beef galawati and 1 mutton galawati kebab, 4 ulte tawa ki paratha, 1 mutton biriyani and 1 mutton yakhni pulao with 2 beef pasinda and 2 firnis. Khus sherbet was served in the beginning as complimentary drink. Water and cold drinks were charged twice the mrp which is not expected from the nawabs. Coming to service which is pathetically slow it took 2 hrs to serve everything and by the time rice items came pasinda was cold and the oil turned to semi solid fat, thanks to ac. Paratha and kebabs were good but not great. Beef was excellent and tender. After tasting kebabs from Tunday kebabi in Lucknow this was no match. It lacked the flavours of green cardamom and bursting melting effect of tunday kebabi. Yakhni pulao was bland though black cardamom, mace and kebab chini was used in generous quantity but it was little overcooked with high dampness and the rice tasted stale. Biriyani was even worst with no flavour after tasting authentic Lucknow biriyani from lala and Dastarkhwan in Lucknow. Firni was ok however it missed the saffron. Also u wont be served anything extra even on request for example a Parantha apart from what is pre booked. I wonder how can someone gauge one's appetite on that particular moment. Do check the bill before paying as for us we were charged 40/- extra for mineral water which we never ordered but when cross checked it was rectified. It was a utter chaos and total mismanagement due to lack of staff. Mam was multitasking as she was cooking, handling orders over phone along with billing. Food is not spicy or oilly which is very much Lucknawi style I would say. Overall ok but will definitely not visit again or would advise...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Manzilat's, a popular restaurant located in Kolkata, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. Manzilat's is known for its exquisite Biriyani, and I can confidently say that their Chicken Biriyani left me thoroughly impressed.
The Chicken Biriyani at Manzilat's was a true culinary masterpiece. The rice was perfectly cooked and had a wonderful blend of fragrant spices that tantalized my taste buds. What stood out the most were the succulent pieces of chicken nestled within the biriyani. Each piece was tender, juicy, and full of flavor, making every bite a delightful experience.
Similarly, the Mutton Biriyani at Manzilat's was equally impressive. The mutton pieces were incredibly tender, practically melting in my mouth. The rich flavors of the spices and the well-marinated mutton created a heavenly combination that will surely satisfy any biriyani lover.
Apart from the biriyanis, I also had the pleasure of trying their Galawti Kebab. While the taste was excellent, with a perfect balance of spices and flavors, I found the kebabs to be slightly softer in texture than what I am used to. Nevertheless, they were still delicious and enjoyable.
One thing to note about Manzilat's is that they have a strict reservation policy. To dine at this restaurant, it is essential to book in advance through their website. They do not allow walk-in customers at all, so planning ahead is crucial. This policy ensures that the restaurant maintains a calm and organized atmosphere, but it may be an inconvenience for those who prefer spontaneity.
Another point to consider is that Manzilat's does not have a lift, which could be a concern for customers requiring mobility assistance. The restaurant is located on an topmost floor, and accessing it may be challenging for some individuals. It would be beneficial for the management to consider implementing accessibility measures to cater to all guests.
Overall, I highly recommend Manzilat's to everyone, especially those who appreciate unique and flavorful biriyanis. The Chicken Biriyani with its succulent chicken pieces and the tender mutton pieces in the Mutton Biriyani are definite highlights of the menu. Just remember to make a reservation in advance through their website and be aware of the lack of a lift for those who may need assistance. Manzilat's is a culinary gem that deserves a visit if you find...
