A small hidden gem. I'm pretty much sure people are going to crib about price, availability and taste. But what you need to keep in mind, it's a home kitchen, not a full blown restaurant. If I understood the menu correctly it's a trial menu (Watch a show called The Bear, you'll know what I mean).
I'm pretty much sure the chef is planning something big in the future. Most people are unaware of what it takes to create something special. But this is just a feeling, so let's stick to the present.
The menu is not so special, but few items are special. The presentation is really nice. The moment you enter you feel cosy. When the rain is pattering on the roof with your warm soup is an exceptional experience. I've been to a lot of restaurants but the natural ambience always attracts me more. However it is a small place with barely 16-18 people capacity. They lost a point there.
The chef (by all means I will argue she is a chef) is very straightforward. She might even turn you away since there is not enough space. But by all means that is exactly what I want in someone who is running a kitchen. You can't accommodate, you ask them to come back at another time. Also you need a lot of patience. Give time and good things will come to you. Then again patience is not a forte in kids these days.
Food is impressive. There is room for improvements, but at the price point I'm not complaining. Note that even though I didn't ask specifically,I still think it's an experiment and there is a lot of love in the food. On top of that your food is literally getting cooked in front of you. That sheer feel of an Anime kitchen was unexpected. If someone is not hiding how they are cooking your food, understand the confidence they have to have that openness with you. How many times have you actually peaked in the kitchens of your beloved economic restaurants to check the condition they are cooking your food in ? But they lost points in terms of availability. The menu is already limited, items need to be available. Pro tip: Do ask for off menu items. Tissues are inside the small tin katchup box. Turn back the menu for a personal message. Thank me later 😏
If you are trying to get into trying Korean food for the first time, have a good conversation with the chef. She can only accommodate only if you tell her. Hope you enjoy the writing on the way in - "Find what you love, and let it kill you"
And add always - don't let my stars fool you, go have your...
Read moreI have been there because of social media and Instagram. There are several good things that can be found as well as bad things, I mean somepeople might say it is a terrible experience for them The atmosphere cozy, humble, dark yet soft. The sitting areas are old school but might not suit for who is looking for luxurious sitting arrangement or a medicore resturant style sitting. It was perfect for me. I was fond of their aesthetic presentations and the overall decor, very eye pleasing. The food carries almost authentic korean taste, it is not suitable for everyone. They serves all the dishes in the right way how it is to be done authentically yet the quantity fails, the platter will not satisfy unless you are making a bill of 2000 atleast for two person and for a foody person it might dissatisfy them. The waiting time is high as the number of staffs are less but they are humble, soft spoken and kind. This review is especially to the owner that treat your people in the right way. Even I was sitting so far but it was too annoying and heartbreaking to hear that you were scolding and whatever your staff as they are not able to cope up with your instructions. Mostly they are new to the concept so please make a separate cooking section otherwise do train them beforehand and with a little bit kindness. Apart from this, the idea of open kitchen was cute and good but they still doesn't have proper ventilation system like if they are cooking something spicy or in high flame the spice and flame may all around in your eyes and nose. They mostly have meat I mean non-veg options which is good but veg is rare here. I enjoyed the food utterly because I like the kind of taste but owner maybe had a attitude issue or doesn't know how to mean serving people equally no matter what and how much they are ordering. For the ambience, food and the people who were serving it with whole heartedly like the staff. It's...
Read moreYoull feel like home here. We have always felt like its a business whenever we have visited any restaurants/cafe. If you know what I mean. But in here it feels homely. And for the amount and quality of food and the authentism served here, the price is very reasonable. Most main courses start from 400 till 550. We agreed that the love and passion of the chef oozes out of the food she cooks. "So its not about money for her, she loves feeding people and cooking" is how we felt. We could feel that she poured her love in the food. The ambience was so homely and pretty and if i had to name a place which is both aesthetically beautiful along with good food, this is the place I'd name. There were only two people in the kitchen, the chef and her apprentice I suppose and we had a nice homely conversation with the chef. Shes v sweet I loved her. She even demonstrates upon how you should have certain dishes, since everyone is not used to Korean and Japanese eating habits. The menu card is entirely hand made. And they serve authentic japanese and korean dishes. And different types of tea and coffee options. We ordered one beef bulgogi which I loved the most. Elsewhere we are served just the meat but in here she'll serve you all the side dishes and lettuce leaves just like how it's done in Korea. Its a set meal here.
We also ordered one janchi guksu and I loved it. The soy curated egg was heavenly. She adds gochujang sauce to the base of the soup since Indians are used to spicy food.
Lastly we ordered tan tan noodles which the chef cooked perfectly but tan tan noodles isnt for everyone's taste buds which includes me. The chef served me beef stock to go with the noodles since ig she could see that I was struggling 😂. Overall 10/10 experience The cafe serves vegan options as well and theres a separate menu for that. Id visit here...
