This picture sums up my Saturday evening. The irony of the picture hit me hard after I clicked it. So here I was relishing a good old chicken mughlai parantha from Sampa Snacks, Ruby in what seem to be after an eternity with @pouchongsauce green chili sauce lying in the vicinity and my picture of Neil Island, Andaman (from December 2019) was on the desktop background while a wireless landline telephone lay at the fag end. It must have been years since I had a mughlai parota. It's a go to snack for a 90's kid living in Calcutta which was the greatest luxury of my childhood. I remember we would get this at a shop which sold fish fries, cutlets, vegetable chops and had a telephone booth alongwith it which was my chief attraction as a kid. Telephone booths are long gone and you simply can't get the joy of watching people queue up for a 1 minute telephone call anymore. And you certainly can't get those old mughlai parotas at 20-30 INR. Those have evaporated with the turn of the century. However, you can still barter your way into the past with an 80 rupee parota in places like these brought to your home by a delivery guy. The telephone booth queues have given away to ATM queues and delivery boys queues in 2021. I wonder what they speak about, what they dream in. Maybe, that's what a kid will write about 32 years later. Maybe I will write a short story on this one day. Till then enjoy the aloo torkari that comes with your mughlai porota. That's the bonus of life without which it won't hallucinate you. (P.S. They put tandoori pieces of chicken inside the parota. The picture only has half of it. There are 4 pieces of it along with the aloo curry) #foodblogger #foodgrammer #foodstoryteller #foodwriter #bengalifood #bengalicuisine #bengalisnacks #mughlaiparatha #aloosabzi #chickenmughlaiparatha #agantukeats #AgantuksBasket #eatwithagantuk #foodnostalgia #kolkatastreetfood #indianstreetfood

Sampa snacks is a place of sheer nostalgia for me. My father first introduced me to this place. After tasting the veg and non-veg chops, I became a big fan of Sampa snacks. If you are looking for delicious, high-quality meals at a reasonable price, do visit this place. I would also recommend you to try their mixed rice, which is one of my favorite dishes.

Me and my family often buy Mughlai paratha from this corner. But I had a bittersweet experience over here. Once, I found a piece of non-edible something within the stuffing of Mughlai Paratha but couldn't recognize what it was. The paratha was also raw from the inside. And the other time I found out a strand of short, strong hair from the alur tarkari provided. But most of the times, the orders I had received were good enough with no...
