Food: A Major Disappointment I am a regular consumer of their bakery items and have ordered the same set of dishes online multiple times. With all of this in mind I have to say it was a catastrophic let down.
Cold Matcha Latte (0/5) I had one sip of matcha NO flavor NO taste, surprised I took another sip still NO flavor NO taste by the 3rd sip I started to question whether I had Covid or not. Then I though why not swirl it a bit, maybe the ingredients need a chance to mix, result : I bent my straw mixing my drink. Startled I looked and noticed a HUGE chunk of ice. They put so much ice in my drink that I was not able to mix it. I am not exaggerating when I say this but I genuinely could not make a full circle in my cup. Then I came to the realization that it is not me but the drink itself is flavorless. Defeated, I set the drink aside.
Paneer Tikka Croissant (3.5/5) Just 2 days ago I had their Almond Croissant and it was great. I expected a simple dish and I got a simple dish. It was just a piece of soft, creamy paneer in a Croissant. Croissant was a bit too flaky but okay.
Caprese Club Sandwich (0/5) Perhaps I am at fault ordering this dish. I did read the description but I thought why not give it a shot. The dish was a perfect display of lack of effort. It was a loveless dish. It was one of the worst iteration on the Kakdi, Tamatar, Pyaaz sandwich. I make a version of this myself, using their own bread, that's ten times better. The sandwich was so mildly heated that the cheese slice was still cold.
Ironically, the best part were the complementary fries that I got with both the dishes.
On a concluding note, I have to say any institution is a reflection of what kind of crowd it draws and BBC stands precisely true on that regard. With the influx of kids that come in to spend "quality time with friends," it's clearly not the food, but the "looks" that matter. Judging by the price tags, it must undoubtedly be the most aesthetic place to be.
P.S. you have to go on an adventure to find the washroom, because they don't have one in their facility.
TLDR; good bakery bad...
Read moreI definitely have a penchant for all things pretty, especially pretty pastries and cakes. Upon visiting this place, you're greeted by a gamut of pastries at the display (hopefully it'll be the case upon your visit and nothing is out of stock at that moment): their cheesecakes have always looked delectable to my eyes. And I have never not ordered them upon visiting, hehe. Let me get the talk about the ambience out of the way: it is decent. It is a cozy cafe with a quiet and low-key vibe to it, which some people enjoy, others, not so much. "You'll have to be there" to feel it.
So, this review will be based upon my experiences of the pastries I have devoured at Bhopal Bakehouse & Cafe, or BBC, as they call it. By the looks of it and by the praises people were singing for their stuff, it seemed like a pretty flagship place. Upon my first visit, I was greeted by a small entrance which is quite old school, the lack of parking, and the quite small menu, which wasn't a problem, as I was not in the mood of any of the big plates, but some pastries, because, let's face it, when you're around the 10 number market, you have a boatload of options for getting quick bites, but not so many for getting something for your sweet tooth.
Anyhoo, coming onto the star of the show: the Baked Japanese Cheese Cake did not disappoint, take my word for it. It simply melts in your mouth with every bite you take. It is so buttery, creamy and the right amount of cheesecake-y texture and sweetness, that you will fall in love with it again and again, hehe. Had some fries the other day, which were meh. The cheesecake usually makes it up for it. The prices are reasonable, but that's subjective.
They've got outdoor seating as well, where you can smoke if you'd like to. The only complaint I've got I guess is, the Country Breads are ALWAYS out of stock, despite me telling them to reserve a pack of sourdough for me. But eh, solely for the cheesecake, Imma sit at 4 stars for this...
Read moreTL;DR - I don't know if I've ever seen worse quality/price ratio. Their food was excessively boring and mediocre at best! AVOID - save your money and go to any other cafe instead.
My friend and I ordered 5 items - Hazelnut frappe, Chocolate ganache shake, Turkish pizza, chocolate eclair, and Tiramisu (not in picture below). Our bill was ~1300. Just look at the food portions in the picture. There may not be pricy-er (considering portion and quality) cafes in this city - a list they could top easily.
Naturally this had set us up for good expectations. We couldn't be more disappointed. NONE of the items were anything above average. Their 400 something pizza wasn't even a circle pizza and seemed smaller than 6". Sharma/Vishnu serve better pizzas seriously. Their eclair and Tiramisu weren't how they are typically prepared. The choices of drinks were super duper restrictive and below average.
Giving two stars only because the manager was helpful. I wanted to return the eclair as I was simply too frustrated with the experience. I returned it but couldn't get my money back as they asked for my NEFT bank details. I gave up on the refund eventually...
On top, they make you other through an app. It has an unnecessarily complicated UX, and doesn't have all the items as in their paper menu! I mean who TF does that!! They don't mention what the dishes are - you'd have to take a wild guess what they'd bring to your table.
---- end...
