Regional Museum of Natural History, Bhopal is a branch of the National Museum of Natural History, New Delhi, it is the center of an informal environment education, whose main purpose is to make people aware of environmental protection through various internal and external activities. It is located in the Environment Complex in Bhopal. The museum was inaugurated in the year 29 September 1997,[2] by the then Minister of Environment and Forests of India, Saifuddin Soz. The program was chaired by the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijaya Singh. The museum offers a unique opportunity to understand the biodiversity of Central India and the complex natural make-up surrounding it. In the galleries located in the museum, the exhibition has been displayed in collaboration with transcripts, translate and visual audio. Dioramas and phenomena are presented in the order of selected subjects. It also has a biology, computer and a research room meant for children to acquire knowledge in a fun way. A temporary exhibition site is also made in premises which exhibit organized displays on various subjects from time to time.[3] The museum is open daily from 10.00am to 6.00pm (except on Monday and national holidays) Upon entry to the museum, the exhibition of the family of Dinosaur, called Triceratops,...

"I had visited the Regional Museum with my family, and we were all thoroughly impressed! The museum is located in the heart of the city, within walking distance of the bustling market.

The exhibits were incredibly well-maintained, with a vast collection of taxidermied animals, skeletons, and interactive displays. We spent hours learning about the diverse wildlife of our region, from majestic tigers to tiny insects.

What really stood out, however, was the museum's unique integration with the surrounding market.

The museum staff were friendly and knowledgeable, happy to answer our questions and provide insights into the exhibits.

Overall, I highly recommend the Regional Animal Museum to anyone interested in wildlife, education, or just a fun day out with family. Be sure to combine your visit with a stroll through the market for a truly unforgettable experience!

Highlights:

Excellent exhibits and interactive displays Convenient location within walking distance of the market Friendly and knowledgeable staff Great...

A visit to this place will you a general idea on flora and fauna of central India. They have 4 or 5 sections including fossils, wonders of nature, etc. Open space around the main building is also good to spend some quality time. The place is well suited for children as well as adults who has interest in wonders of nature. And the place is well maintained and tried to include digital museum experience, but few of the interactive museum spaces are old and not working well. There were photo exhibition were also happening there when I visited. Overall you can expect a good one or two hours here.

A great place to visit, especially for school children to learn and appreciate the natural history and geology of India. The displays and specimens are in good condition and it seems there has been effort put towards forming an educational tour. Although some of the audio visuals and self operated displays need maintenance and can be redone. Given that there are very few museums in India talking about the rich diversity of dinosaur and other interesting fossils, slight maintenance and some innovating marketing to reach students with this information will be really helpful.
