After a spectacular darshan at the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple, we ended up here for breakfast as we were not very pleased with the complimentary breakfast provided at the hotel that we stayed-in.

A trip to Madurai for us is not complete without at least a single meal here at Sabarees, usually tiffin, either breakfast or dinner, but their lunch options are fantastic too. This time we tried an outlet that is slightly away from our regular Sabarees branch and tried out the mini breakfast that had a platter filled with a regular size idly, vadai, a portion of kara pongal, rava kesari, podi, kara chutney and coconut chutney, sambar, potato masala. The hungry bunch that we were started devouring, that large empty space in the platter disturbed us constantly, that is exactly when a hot plain dosa and a poori set was delivered to make this mini breakfast platter complete and satisfying. The medu vada was perfect, with or without the sambar dip, and the kesari was decent.

Tastewise, it is one of the best breakfast you can get in Madurai, the kara chutney was absolutely delicious, the idli podi was another stunner too, the poori with the potato masala was so good that we ordered another separate portion to share. I did, as always, got greedy and ordered a onion uthappam to share with wifey and we both loved that one too, the unlimited servings of kara chutney made a lot of difference #apjprecommends Sabarees when you are in Madurai

Finally rounded it up with a delicious filter coffee that just made the day perfect and held us full till we packed and drove towards bangalore and reached Namakkal for our...

Ate following items: Aloo Fry Mixed Fried Rice Hyderabad Biriyani Sambar Rice Spl Meals

Taste and Experiance: Aloo Fry - It was mentioned under starters and the waiter told it'll be deep fried, but I got boiled potato tasted like a gravy. By waiters word, I was expecting something like Potato wedges, or French Fries. Totally Disppointed with this.

Mixed Fried Rice - Average taste. But we can't expect more taste for chinese dishes in proper South Indian Restaurant.

Hyderabad Biriyani - Average taste. Normal vegetable biriyani.

Sambar Rice - Good taste. They gave one vegetable and papad as side dish.

Spl Meals - Good taste. They gave one chappati, mushroom fry, vada, papad, paneer sabji, potato curry, cabbage curry, dal, sambar, vathal kulambu, rasam, curd, payasam, sweet, ice cream. Spl Meals was out of expectation and it is highly recommendable here.

Apart from above, there were desserts mentioned in the menu card. But nothing was available. I was requesting for Ice cream/Milk shake, both were not available. It was really disappointing that cold desserts not available during the peak summer season. And the waiters tone was also little harsh.

Cost: We went 4 members as a family, total bill was around Rs.650 which was reasonable.

Ambience: We went around 1:30PM inside the AC hall, it was calm. But later in 15mins so much crowd came inside the hall and it became noisy. They must provide some waiting hall in case of heavy crowd. It was a huge disturbance for who's taking food...

This is going to be a review of just the restaurant of Sree Sabarees. It is a pure veg restaurant with very high rating on Google.

For information, it is spread in 2 floors. Just like every other big restaurant, it has 2 places, one ac and other non ac. We went there on a Saturday and the place was full with people seating and waiting. Atleast there was a waiting period of 15-20 mins. Each and every staff was working very efficiently and non stop for attending the customers.

Coming to lunch, we a family of 7, ordered lunches thali for everyone. Main thali was followed after a round of sweet salty soup. Whole meal was very heavy. It consisted of a single chapati, rice and several other sabzi/curry, including papadam and dessert.

The food was fresh and everyone seemed to like it, including us. There was no limit on topups. Cost of per thali was Rs 200/- and the price felt justifiable.

Food should be given 5 star, service is also 5 stars, the only thing which can be improved is ambience. Due to such a huge footfall, there was rush everywhere, even though cleaning staff were working their best, it still looked chaotic everywhere.

Anyways, recommended for meals and...

I had a very positive experience at this restaurant. We were welcomed respectfully and shown to an air-conditioned room. The staff was attentive and provided great recommendations for the food. We decided to order a large thali 3 sets, and it was such a wonderful experience to enjoy the variety of flavors all on one big plate. The food was bursting with flavor, and we felt so satisfied afterward. On a side note, the food was healthy and clean. You can even see the cooking process while walking up the stairs, which I found reassuring. I didn't experience any stomach issues, so I really give a thumbs up to their cooking methods. The food was indeed quite good. The room was clean and tidy, and the staff consistently cleaned the tables whenever they became dirty. They were also very friendly. In total, I spent Rs. 650 (approximately $10.50). I’ll be sharing more photos and videos for a better understanding of the experience.
