It's a street food shop. In the first glance itself we saw there's already more crowd waiting for their turns to catch the seat. So we somehow managed to get the seat for two. But when a family of four arrived they made us to move to another table where already two people were eating. So after they complete eating, we have to stand give them way. And after sometime again you stand to give way to new person who is coming to sit next to you.

The tables are so closely packed. The servers here are unclean and doesn't know basic etiquettes. Whenever the next person sitting next to us order something, this server would lean on our banana leaf, dip his baniyan in our food and serve the one sitting next to us. Extremely disgusting. When he asked him of that, he just didn't care.

And you also can't eat peacefully here. While you are eating, people standing near your table would be continuously staring at your plates to see when you would complete eating making you feel awkward.

Also before you complete eating, serving persons there would have already estimated that you won't order further anymore and tell directly in front of you to those persons waiting that this table will be vacated in 2 mins. Now you would be embarrassed to order anymore. How much we want to eat should be decided by us, not them!!

Coming to the taste, it's not great and your food is prepared using unhealthy items in an unhygienic way which you'll know the next day morning. I have tried many street food shops but this one made too much uncomfortable.

Price of mutton Killi parotta is very costly. Killi parotta is just an ordinary parotta wrapped inside banana leaf. It is 200rs with hardly four small mutton pieces in it. Don't ever think of trying bun parotta here, next two days you need to take a day off to spend your day in the rest room.

If you are visiting here for tasting authentic Madurai foods, there are many other good restaurants which offers better taste with peaceful atmosphere for dining. If you are someone who would not mind staring at other food leaf to catch their seats by standing behind their tables, and if you are okay to adjust all the above points, you can go...

Pathetic experience. For me it was first time in Madurai to try this place and I must say I felt like looted and cheated. I don't mind paying high price if j feel the food justify the quality and taste. But let me warn you whomever wants to try this place, the bun parotta is priced at 15 per piece it's crunch and holds lot of oil!!! The server will be pushy so I suggest you check with the price before the order is placed. The banana leaf wrapped parotta doesn't justify the price, it's charged at 200 for mutton wrap, and tastes bland.. then we were suggested to have mutton sikka, please don't expect the mutton sukka to be dry and a decent quantity. It's even lesser than a coconut chutney served normally along with idly or dosa. The important and the climax is right here we ordered for Kalaki (something a like a omelette) we were expecting a price of around 50 for this, ( prepared with 2 eggs max along with mutton gravy and max 3 pieces of mutton boneless which should be less than 10gms ) and this dish is charged a whopping amount of 140 per Kalaki. For 4 bun parotta, 2 Kalaki, 1 banana leaf wrapped mutton parotta and 2 portions of mutton sukka and unbelievable bill came up of INR 850. I personally felt we have been fooled and an unfortunate experience is created and I will never recommend this place. PLEASE DON'T GET FOOLED BY YOUTUBERS...

Extremely overhyped parotta shop, you will be charged 20 rs for one piece of bun parotta which is not worth. The road side hotel got hyped just because of YouTube food vlogers. I personally know the restaurant owner, he is a nice person however during the recent months he has lots of debts due to corona lock down and he has increased the price and compromised the quality of the food.

Other mutton and chicken items are not worth (quality) for the prices they charge. Residents of Madurai are very minimal customers, most of the people visit the restaurants are outstation people visiting after wacthing the YouTube vlogs.

Most importantly you will be treated as if you are eating for free, unless your order or bill is high or if you are politician or police or local rowdy. Most importantly, there is no proper bill provided, this restaurant has a huge turn over for a day but he expemts tax.

Madurai has got many more restaurants, which is small sized severs quality authentic quality food.

Please avoid this food if you want to save your money and health.

25.06.2022 - The main shop which was operated by the road side was sealed by health and food safety department for preparing unhygienic foods.

All credit goes the YouTube food vlogers who...

Bun Parotta Cravings Sorted in Madurai I had been planning a food tour to Madurai for quite some time, and finally got the chance to explore a few of the most hyped spots in the city. We reached Madurai around 5 PM, and just as expected, our gut started growling. I had bookmarked a few places on Google Maps, and this one was close by — so we headed straight there. We ordered their famous bun parotta, thalakari, mutton kari dosa, and mutton chukka fry. To be honest, the bun parotta was a hit — soft inside, crispy outside, exactly how I like it. They served four varieties of salna (gravy) with it, and all of them paired well, but I still personally prefer the Kongu belt-style gravies for parotta. Thalakari was well-cooked — the meat was juicy and flavorful. Mutton kari dosa turned out to be a surprise winner — soft, not too greasy, and had a great balance of spice and texture. The only letdown was the mutton chukka fry, which was below average — lacked depth in flavor. Overall, a solid place to satisfy your bun parotta cravings when you’re in Madurai. Nothing too fancy, but hits the spot if you’re hungry and in the mood for something classic and local.

Madurai Bun Parotta Kadai – A Quick, Tasty Pit Stop** Conveniently located on Anna Nagar’s 80 Feet Road, this small eatery is a great stopover if you're passing through Madurai and craving some authentic bun parotta. The **bun parotta with mutton chukka** is a must-try — rich, flavorful, and satisfying. The **mutton omelette** was equally impressive, packed with taste. While the **kari dosa** was quite good, the **plain dosa** was a letdown and the **idly** was just average. Service is fast and efficient, making it ideal for a quick bite. However, keep in mind the restaurant is quite small — don’t expect fancy seating or ambience. Handwash area is manageable, but the **restroom was not clean**. There’s **no car parking**, so it’s more convenient for two-wheelers or a quick stop-by. **Overall**, a solid choice if you’re hunting for the best parotta in town — just come for the food, not the frills.

We visited Madurai Bun Parotta Kadai for dinner and tried their famous bun parotta with mutton chukka, along with a variety of gravies they served on the side. Every dish was absolutely delicious the flavors were spot on, and everything tasted exceptional. One thing I genuinely regret is I didn't ask the service anna name who served us, his hospitality was amazing. He recommended us that we should come back the next afternoon to try their mutton and chicken biryani before leaving Madurai. I'm so glad we took his advice, because returning for lunch was the best decision we made on the trip. The biryani was outstanding, and the mutton gravy that came with it was equally impressive. We even had parotta again for lunch because we simply couldn't resist. As someone from Chennai, I know I’m really going to miss this place. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to Madurai Bun Parotta Kadai!
