Buvanchi Misal in Lonavala is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Maharashtrian flavors. Known for its lip-smacking misal, this place consistently serves up hearty, spicy, and well-balanced dishes that leave you wanting more. The misal here is perfectly cooked, with a rich, flavorful gravy and a generous topping of crunchy farsan, fresh onions, and coriander that adds just the right amount of texture and freshness.

The portion sizes are generous and value for money, making it a popular spot among locals and tourists alike. The ambiance is simple and unpretentious, focusing all the attention on the food, which is the real star. However, the setting is quite tight, with limited space and closely packed seating arrangements that may feel a bit cramped during busy hours. Additionally, the restaurant operates on a self-service model, so be prepared to order and collect your food at the counter.

The staff are friendly and quick, ensuring a pleasant dining experience without long waits. Located conveniently in Lonavala, Buvanchi Misal is perfect for a fulfilling breakfast or snack while exploring the town. If you love spicy, authentic Maharashtrian cuisine, this eatery won’t disappoint and is sure to become one of your favorite culinary stops...

Overhyped and Utterly Disappointing I swung by this place last Saturday afternoon, hoping the hype was real. Sadly, it was anything but. The moment I stepped in, it was a chaotic mess. The place was packed to the gills, and it felt like a complete free-for-all with absolutely no one managing the seating. Navigating through the crowd was a challenge, and then I was faced with an interminable queue just to order, and then another one to actually collect the food. It was a test of patience, and frankly, it set a pretty grim tone for the whole experience. And the misal? A monumental letdown. It was just mediocre, bordering on forgettable, and certainly far from anything I'd call "great." The overwhelming flavor was just a blunt, one-dimensional spice, completely lacking any nuanced aromas or the rich complexity you'd expect from a well-made misal. To make matters worse, it tasted disappointingly watery, like a diluted version of what it should have been. Honestly, save your time and your taste buds. This spot is a prime example of overhyped mediocrity. Definitely not worth the bother! How does this revised version sound to you? Do you want any other adjustments, or would you like me to help with...

Location: Conveniently located just 10-15 minutes from the old Mumbai-Pune highway, this hotel is easily accessible for travelers and locals alike.

Parking: The hotel provides roadside parking, which can be a bit limited but manageable.

Menu Highlights: The hotel offers a modest selection, including misal, various beverages, and pakodas. The onion pakoda stands out as the best dish on the menu. Butter milk is good, and a refreshing option. However, the solkadhi is served from a packet, which might not appeal to everyone.

Service & Payment: The hotel operates on a self-service basis, which may not be to everyone's liking but ensures quick and efficient service. Payment options are somewhat limited, with UPI and cash being accepted; card payments are not available.

Amenities: A washroom is available for customers, adding to the convenience.

Ambiance: The ambiance is decent, making it a comfortable spot for a quick meal.

Taste: The taste is average overall. This place may not satisfy true misal enthusiasts but is a good option if you're hungry and need a quick bite.

Overall: It’s an okay place to visit if you’re in the area and need a quick and...

The Missal outlet is situated in a nice locality which is calm and is in Khandala. The Missal tasted average nothing close to what one could get in Pune. I couldn't find anything wrong with the Missal but somehow it couldn't win my heart and made me want to go there again. They have this self-service mode which I hate at a Missal joint because every time you need a small bowl of onion/lemon (which are must for the Missal to amplify its taste) or an extra Pav/Pav Jodi, you have to go to the coupon counter, pay for the extras you need and then go to the food counter to actually get it. The Farsan in the missal, by that time gets all soggy and the Missal loses its charm. So far all the renowned Missal joints I have visited have disappointed me except for a few. This opinion is very subjective and may differ from person to person. As I had said, the Missal is not a total waste of money. We had one Plain Missal and one Vada Missal and one thing I would like to point out is that Vada had Pudina and that left a very awkward and unwanted fragrance in the Missal. I hate Pudina in Vada Pav as it is something I don't like personally. Also, the tea was okay and there was nothing special about it too.

Buvanchi Misal in Lonavala is a must-visit for any foodie exploring the region. This legendary eatery has been serving up authentic Maharashtrian breakfast for over 40 years, and the current third generation continues to uphold the family tradition with passion and dedication. The star of the show, of course, is the Misal Pav. The spicy, tangy flavors explode in your mouth, perfectly balanced by the soft pav. Truly zanzanit for a non marathi. Don't miss the Vada Plate, a crispy and flavorful treat, and the Kanda Bhaji, a delightful onion fritter. For a sweet ending, the Gulab Jamun is a melt-in-your-mouth delight. I also enjoyed the Kharvas, a local delicacy. The service at Buvanchi Misal is efficient and friendly, adding to the overall positive dining experience. But it's the quality of the food that truly sets them apart. The flavors are authentic, the ingredients are fresh, and the thecha (spicy green chili chutney) is simply superb. Buvanchi Misal is more than just a restaurant; it's a Lonavala institution. If you're in the area, make sure to stop by and experience the legacy for yourself.

I visited this place by reading the overwhelming amount of good reviews it had on Google maps and traveled 60km just for the misal. But the experience was not good. First, the crowd and the lack of staff cannot able to control the crowd, at one point the waiter just left us hanging to control the crowd. As the place is very famous it attracts lots of people. Because of the crowd, you may need to share the table with other people. The localite there told that you should visit during the weekdays at that time you can get the good taste and some breathing space. Now about the taste, I think misal is overhyped and tasted like any other misal you can find anywhere in Pune. The only differentiating factor was the thesa(spicy chili pickle) which is their specialty and they serve it with there every item and it tastes really good. Just because of that thesa misal had some different taste. But the best dish was the Wada pav they serve, damn that crispy thin layer of batter on Wada and that awesome thesa sandwiched in fluffy paav. And to cool off that heat the chill buttermilk(Taak) was the perfect combo.
