You won't believe this, but many tourists from Europe and Asia have visited and enjoyed famous misal pav here. Favourite destination of food lovers and celebrities from various areas. Misal curry (Patal bhaaji in local language) served here is spicy but not hot. A mixture of more than 36 different spices are used to make one of the main ingredient of this curry; which is called Kolhapuri Chutney. Jotiram Gurav is running this misal center flawless for last 40 years. His next generation Amol Gurav is helping him to run this misal center since last 5 plus years. Even though this is named as Misal Center, one should not miss to taste fantastIc onion pakoda (Kanda bhaji) after finishing one portion of misal-pav. This is another unknown speciality of Laxmi Misal Center. Nevertheless to mention, one should end his/her food journey at Laxmi Misal Center by sipping cutting or half Chaha (Tea).

Read moreIf you are in Kolhapur and craving for authentic misal, Laxmi Misal is the place you must visit. The taste here is simply unmatched , pure, traditional, and loaded with that perfect Kolhapuri spice balance.
The tarri (curry) has the right punch, flavorful but not overwhelming, while the farsan adds the crunchy freshness that makes every bite memorable. The bread (pav) served is soft, fresh, and complements the misal beautifully. What really makes it stand out is the consistency in taste — every serving feels homely, rich, and crafted with love.
Back in early 2002, during a trip to Konkan, I had tasted misal at a small restaurant at Gaganbawada bus stand. Even today, when I eat at Laxmi Misal, it brings back that exact same nostalgic flavor and warmth. That’s how authentic their misal is, it carries the true essence of Kolhapur.
In short, Laxmi Misal is not just food, it’s an experience. If you want to enjoy misal the way it’s meant to be spicy, tasty, wholesome, and memorable, this is the place.
Thanks Amol for quality and Wahab ji for...
Read moreAfter having the divine darshan of the goddess Mahalakshmi early in the morning we went to have our breakfast at Laxmi Misal which is a must visit place while in Kolhapur to experience the authentic Kolhapuri food tradition. Their ambience is truly rustic with a small quiet setting where they play yesteryear songs which will transport you to a different era. They serve their misal which is mildly spiced with a special chivda and bread slices instead of Pav which was really surprising to a Punekar. But the bread was fresh and went very well with the misal. They keep refilling the rassa and bread many times and their welcoming attitude is heart warming. Its truly an iconic place and would recommend it to anyone visiting Kolhapur. Have definitely become a fan...
