Being a big Sea food fan, I always explore new sea food joints in town. Malvan Samudra is one such sea food joint which I found in Wakad Area. They serve variety of sea food specialities starting from prawns, pomfret, surmai to bombil, bangda. Along with seafood they also serve malvani chicken and mutton.
I had ordered following food items from their menu :
Prawns Fry Medium sized prawns marinated in indian spices and chilli powder and then deep fried till it swirls up completely. The crunchy and delicious prawns fry will definitely make you crave for it.
Surmai Fry A popular fish fry, which is crispy outisde and soft inside. Surmai pieces are marinated in ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, salt, lemon juice and indian spices. The surmai pieces are coated with red chilli powder, rawa and rice flour which makes the outer cover crispy. The surmai was soft, fresh and shallow fried.
Prawns Malvani Biryani Prawns cooked with perfection and then added to malvani masala and basmati rice. The aroma of basmati rice and malvani masala gives a delightful flavor to prawns biryani. The quantity of biryani is perfect for two. This is their malvani delicacy which you can't miss.
Overall a decent place for sea food lovers... Do try their Surmai fry, Pomfret fry and Prawns Biryani for sure. I am definitely going to visit this place soon and try their...

The restaurant setup feels more like a basic shop structure. While parking is easier to find in the evening, the seating arrangement is quite cramped and not suitable for large groups. During our visit, there was only one table occupied, yet the service was very slow.
While it’s understandable that seafood takes time to prepare, the waiting time here was unusually long. The sequence of serving dishes was also unprofessional and disorganized.
As for the food: • Fried items were generally good, especially the bombil fry (though only the first serving was properly made – later pieces have more water content and not drained well). • Pomfret and surmai fry had an authentic taste and were enjoyable. • Prawns fry was disappointing. • Prawns gravy lacked flavor, tasting only salty. Even after we raised a complaint, they simply diluted it with water and re-served.
Most gravy dishes were overly salty and too watery – definitely not recommended.
In contrast, I’ve had excellent experiences at their Chinchwad branch over the past 10 years without any complaints. This visit to the Wakad branch did not match that...
