One of the hottest and spiciest misal !!
If you are a hot-and-spicy person then this place is a must-try for you. 🌶️ It's hot but still tasty. You can taste the spices that seems well-done.
@Misal:
The misal and tari has a needed tinge of sourness and sweetness too mostly from tomato and jaggery resp, i guess.
Matkis are not visible in the misal as according to the staff its broken and dissolved in tari itself due to the long cooking process.
Tari is served in 2 varieties whenever you ask for a refill - (1) spicy (2) normal. I found the normal one to be more manageable and tasty than the spicy one.
Pav is ok. Not bad but not great either. Couple of pav felt a bit moist, may be due to weather.
Farsan served in misal is not crispy. The farsan pieces are little soft for misal.
They do not put potatoes, poha or the likes in their misal. This misal is a combination of their misal cut/tari and farsan only.
Overall its ok. 😋
@Service
It's crowded on Sundays. So there will mostly be a queue when you reach there. The queue was managed ok when I went. But not sure what happens when it gets too much crowded as they don't seem to have any token, or list maintained.
Once you are seated, the wait is NOT over !!! Now you have to wait for the table to be cleaned. And then wait for the order to be taken. Although mostly it's just misal to order. Now the serving takes time. On Sunday that i went it took 15 mins after being seated. First the pav-jodi arrives on the table, followed by Kanda-limbu. Now these costars have to wait for their superstar misal for another 10 mins ... And then you can dig in once the whole crew is in place 😜 ...
Bhajji took longer than that. In fact we cancelled it because we were done eating and still it was not ready.
Overall i find the service to be slow considering its one main item that they serve and it takes 20 mins to arrive after the order.
This can be definitely improved by more staffing or effective management.
@cost
It's costlier than average rate, considering you pay 100 rs for 1 misal and 2 pavs alone.Bhajji plate is 50 rs. IMO this is good but not really...
Read moreI am a misal lover.
Newale misal is well known in PCMC. If you ask me, the place is overrated. It might have been good or unique in the past, but I didn't find anything outstanding here.
Taste - It is super spicy. If you are on low to moderate spice scale, avoid. You can try it on rare occasions to test the limits of your taste buds or to give an unsuspecting friend a spice shock. But, it's not for me. Apart from spiciness, there is a tinge of tamarind. This combo at times works. I have a developed taste for misal north to Pune (Nashik Road direction) so I wouldn't rate this misal better than any of those.
Batata Bhajji were crispy and best ones I have ever eaten. I give them that.
Place is too crowded. It is in the heart of Chinchwad. Nearby parking is non existent. You will need to park around the main road under the over bridge and walk toward their shop.
Staff is efficient, I didn't find them welcoming but they do their job. It's more like a factory because of less number of tables and more number of customers.
I think it will be better if you go really early or at odd timing to avoid the awkward waiting. There is no place to sit or even stand if you had to wait.
Finally, about Paav. Paav of Misal is equally important. The paav here was somewhat dry. Did not like their paav at all.
Finally price. It's Rs.100. This is overpriced in my opinion. A good misal on Nashik Road would cost around 60 to 70 rupees. There is nothing in this misal that made it ~30% costlier.
My verdict - Try it once. Don't get too adventurous. It will burn your bottom in a few hours if you keep the 'sample' coming in. Either you will go often or just like me, look for...
Read moreFinally after 4 years of wait and multiple plans made and canceled I finally made it to the legendary Newale Misal at Gandhi Peth, Prabhat Colony, Chinchwad Gaon, Chinchwad, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Maharashtra 411033. Please note that the old place has closed down and they have moved to a new location 100 meters from the old location. Also note 10 meters from the old one there is one more Newale Misal (same family but different members) so you take the call and decide where you want to eat 😁. We today chose the other one and next time will try the one we skipped today.
Now coming to the taste of the misal...is it worth the hype and everything else...of course yes it's fantastic. First you get a strong sweet taste and then the spice kicks in and yes it's quite a kick but the added lemon and onions and coriander adds to the flavors and you cannot stop eating and of course sweatng too😁. If anyone has not yet tried this misal please please please do try as it's totally different than the 100's of other misal ypu mist have tried before for sure. Also their batata bhaiya along with spicy chutney is also pretty famous but that's available only on weekends.
