Stepping into ODIA DALMA in Wakad is like opening a cherished chapter from my childhood. The interiors, adorned with traditional Odia art and earthy tones, instantly transport you to the heart of Odisha. The ambiance is a perfect blend of nostalgia and elegance, making it an ideal spot for a soulful meal. The authentic taste of the dishes here is a delightful reminder of home-cooked meals. The Mutton Thali is a feast for the senses. Imagine tender pieces of mutton, slow-cooked to perfection in a rich, aromatic gravy that bursts with flavors of cumin, coriander, and a hint of mustard. Accompanied by fluffy rice, tangy tomato khatta, and a side of crispy papad, it's a culinary journey that takes you back to festive family gatherings. The Veg Thali is equally enchanting. It features a medley of traditional Odia dishes, each with its unique flavor profile. The Dalma, a hearty lentil and vegetable stew, is the star of the show, offering a comforting taste of home. Paired with fragrant rice, Potala rasa and saga muga, it's a wholesome and satisfying meal that leaves you feeling nourished and content. One dish that always brings back fond memories is the Aaloo Kalara Bhaja, I remember my grandmother making this simple yet flavorful dish during summer vacations. The crispy fried potatoes and bitter gourd, seasoned with just the right amount of spices, were a staple at our family lunches. The bitterness of the gourd perfectly balanced with the softness of the potatoes, creating a harmony of flavors that was both unique and comforting. Every bite at Odia Dalma takes me back to those lazy afternoons spent in my grandmother's kitchen, savoring the deliciousness of her cooking. All this in completely affordable price. The welcoming staff at Odia Dalma add to the overall experience. Their warm smiles and attentive service make you feel right at home. For anyone looking to relive the authentic flavors of Odisha in Pune, Odia Dalma is a must-visit. It's not just a meal; it's a nostalgic journey that leaves you craving for more. P.S - Parking can be a problem for Cars, since it's located on a busy street. Views are strictly personal on particular day and time. Boń Appètit

At first, I thought of the ethnic dance paintings and motifs to be the entrance to some kind of dance studio or academy, but when I read the name - Odia Dalma, Authentic Odia Cuisine Restaurant, I got excited! I made up my mind to go and check out this authentic Odia restaurant as soon as I could. Wanna know what I think about it? Read on, then! Just as you enter the restaurant, you are greeted by a riot of colours and lights, as if you've been teleported right into Odisha. The motifs above the cashier resemble oars of a fishing boat, on the wall hangs a huge painting depicting Odia temple festivities, large brass figurines depicting Odissi dance poses, and tribal paintings painted on pristine white tables. The wall murals and other ethnic decor brought back memories of my visit to Puri Jagannath. The blissful Jhoti chita (white rangoli designs) and colourful 'Pattachitras', colourful art depicting Hindu mythology, found mostly only in Odisha are real fine touches that lend to the restaurant's authenticity. An Odia song plays in the background, and the whiff of fresh food cooking wafts through the kitchen. I am not here to promote this restaurant, but I want you to know that I found Odia Dalma to be an honest gateway to authentic Odissi cuisine. Come simply to soak in the ambience, and let the restaurant Manager (who is also a real Odissi from Cuttack) take you on a culinary journey by recommending some traditional and time tested dishes that were previously privy only to Odissi people. Gorge in the ecstasy of our deep-rooted and vibrant culture of our southern states, and transcend the boundaries of your gastronomic odyssey around our rich, multicultural country, one state at a time. Tip: If authentic traditional Indian cuisine from the heartlands of India is not your style, fear not. They also serve Moghlai and Chinese ;)

First of all, its different ! It serves very mild but tasty recipes so if you are a masala or chatpata lover, this might not be for you. I haven't had Odisha food before so I cant comment on authenticity but I loved the homely and lightweight yet filling dishes. We had veg thali which consisted of fulka, steamed rice, baingan bharata, aloo sabji (typicalaloo puri wali gravy), gobhi/flower gravy sabji, dahi baingan, crispy fried vegetables, mixed daal vada, papad and most amazing - tomato and kaju (dates) chatni. Everything was super tasty (for my mild/bland taste palate) and after finishing entire thali it still felt light. I tried Rohu fish curry and fried. Fish was soft and fresh, curry was having mustard paste base which i expected to be pungent but it wasnt. May be they have toned it down a bit for Maharashtrians. Then came the most mouth watering of all - chennapoda (traditional baked cheese mithai). All of this, costed us only 900/- which was a cherry on the cake :) I am sure to go here frequently now, see if you too like it !
