Good food, fast service, basic ambience.
Ruchira is located in a small lane behind the Malvan Nagar Parishad and near the Pimpal Paar. It's an old restaurant and that shows from the old Marathi notice boards hanging around the place (some of which sound funny now).
The food is quite good - hot, fresh and tasty. Like most restaurants in Malvan, they specialize in Malvani seafood, but we have always felt that it's their chicken and mutton dishes that stand out. The dishes we liked here are - Chicken Sukka, Mutton Curry (goes great with rice), Rawa Surmai Fry, Rawa Bangda Fry, Kalva / Oysters Curry and Pomfret Fry.
The service is shy but quick and to-the-point. Food sometimes takes time to come, but you can wait for it because it's guaranteed going to be steaming and fresh.
The seating is a problem here - being an old building, the place is cramped. The best bet is to sit in the open outside, where too the tables are limited.

Read moreHave been visiting this place for the last 10 years and have seen this place evolve with menu and space. The owner and his son is very humble and friendly and attend to each one of the customers with care. They ensure each guest is fed and are satisfied before they leave. The staff serving you as well, ensure you get what is needed. I have tried the entire menu till date even the Chinese which was newly introduced since a couple of years and have thoroughly enjoyed each item. Some of my go to items from their menu as below: Chicken wade thali (absolutely yumm) Fish thalis (Surmai and Prawns being my personal favourite) Solkadi is to die for, absolute GEM Veg thali (on a veg day, you cant miss this with hot piping chapatis and homely vegetables with shrikhand)
If you are nearby, you cannot miss this place. I rate Ruchira even higher than Atithi bamboo. Thank you for the efforts and the amazing food you have been serving since so many years. Looking forward to visit you again...
Read moreI took the opportunity to have lunch here during our short trip to Malvan. Called them to check ahead of my visit. The owner politely told me the options available in sea food as requested. The place is in a tiny lane and parking for a car could be somewhat of an issue unless one has the time to move around looking for space. We parked a little away and walked for 10 mins. We chose the outdoor seating, the inside seating was already full - also I found outdoor seating to be better. I ordered for Soundala (butter fish) fry, Pomfret fry, and Tisrya (clamps) masala for myself and Veg Thali and some Solkadhi for my parents who prefer vegeterian food. The food was delicious, exceeded our expectation to say the least. This place isn’t the oldest in the area, but has been serving food for over 25 years. While they seem to have made their mark, I feel they deserve much...
