I recently had the pleasure of dining at "Blackstone Grill," a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of North East India, Shillong, serving delectable Arabic cuisine. Located in a quaint corner of the city, yet centre, the restaurant boasts an inviting ambiance and warm hospitality that transports you to the Middle East.
Ambiance: The moment I stepped inside "Blackstone Grill," I was immediately captivated by the restaurant's Arabian-themed décor. The interior is adorned with intricate lanterns, rich tapestries, and traditional ornaments, creating an exotic and inviting atmosphere. Soft background music enhanced the overall experience, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed evening with friends or family.
Service: The staff at "Blackstone Grill" were extremely friendly and attentive. They greeted us with warm smiles and promptly guided us through the menu, offering insightful recommendations. The service was efficient, and our orders arrived in a reasonable time frame.
Menu and Food: The menu at "Blackstone Grill" featured a diverse array of Arabic delicacies, and each dish we tried was bursting with authentic flavors. We started with varieties of tea & coffee shots, the classic Hummus and Falafel platter, all of them were exceptional. The hummus had a creamy texture with just the right balance of tahini and lemon, while the falafels were crispy on the outside and perfectly seasoned on the inside.
For the main course, we indulged in their Mixed Grill platter, which consisted of succulent skewers of grilled chicken and lamb, accompanied by fragrant saffron rice and a side of freshly baked pita bread. The meats were tender and well-marinated, and the portions were generous, making it a delightful feast for our taste buds.
We also couldn't resist trying their Chicken Shawarma wrap, and it did not disappoint. The juicy, marinated chicken was wrapped in soft, warm pita bread, complemented by fresh vegetables and a tangy garlic sauce—a true delight in every bite.
To end our meal on a sweet note, we savored their Baklava—a traditional Arabic dessert made with layers of flaky pastry, honey, and nuts. The combination of textures and flavors was divine, leaving us completely satisfied.
Price: The pricing at "Blackstone Grill" is reasonable considering the quality and authenticity of the food. While it may be slightly higher than local eateries, the experience and taste make it well worth the cost.
Overall Impression: "Blackstone Grill" brings a delightful taste of the Middle East to the North East of India. The flavors are authentic, the ambiance is captivating, and the service is commendable. Whether you're a fan of Arabic cuisine or simply looking to try something new, this restaurant is a must-visit.

Read moreWent to try out the recently opened Blackstone Grill located at Mawlai Mawroh. I suspected the menu would be a little different from the normal Indian, Chinese or Continental fare, but, lo and behold they had a dedicated Middle Eastern / Arabic menu. And well that kinda hit all my buttons and so we made the order. The ambience of the place also helped with the appetite. Started with the Moroccan tea. It was a minty tea and was simply wonderful. Helped in cleaning the palatte after every dish. Next was the Shorbet Adas Soup which was a lentil soup. A little tangy but it helped with weather. Next were the starters, the Baba Ghanoush, the Hummus Kawarma and the Stuffed Aubergine. The Hummus Kawarma with the small chunks of meat really did stand out. I wanted to have some bread with the Hummas and the management were more than happy to throw in a couple of extra pieces of Pita bread. However, perhaps due to the cold weather, the pita bread were a little too cold for my liking. Next was the stuffed Aubergine that also came with a very delectable minced meat. And finally for the entré, we had the Al-farham Arabic Grilled chicken. The portions were very generous and the meat had a nice grilled char to it. Still would have liked it a little better if the meat was cooked a little more. Finally ended the meal with cups of Moroccan tea. I would definitely go back for the Moroccan tea, the Hummus Kawarma and the stuffed Aubergine. At the end of the meal, the owner was kind enough to greet us and asked for our feedback. Would definitely recommend anyone in Shillong to try...
