Thai Pineapple Fried Rice (Prawn) - Rs.200
The Whoo, Lumshyiap, Shillong

My second stop for the day was The Whoo. It is about 100 meters from the 1st place I visited. It basically looks like a residential house, because it is one, it's just that most part of the house has been converted into a B&B.
I have noticed this place once back in 2019 but never came around to check it out. So today I stepped in. In the ground floor there is a nice small but pretty little restaurant with a few tables & chairs. I asked if there were other seating areas & the staff at the door led me to a labyrinth of rooms & stairs till we reached the terrace which had 2 tables with a view over looking parts of Shillong.
I checked out the menu & wanted to try their continental fare but it was too long a wait so I went with the Thai Pineapple Fried Rice with Prawns. My first time eating pineapple cooked in rice.
The terrace was very nice as it still had plenty of sun & it wasn't a very windy day. This spot seems to be very popular as right after 1 group left, another arrived. It was a nice place to wait for the food to come.
My food arrived & it was a yellow colored fried rice. And it was warm. The quantity was pretty decent considering there were 10 perfectly cooked pieces of prawns. There were also small cubes of pineapples as well. They added sweetness to the dish but the sweetness didn't overpower the other flavors. This dish introduced me to another dimension of fried rice flavors. A small amount of oregano was also added in the dish. Surprisingly the flavors didn't clash.
Overall the rooftop was a nice place to hideaway & just be one with the food. I'm definitely glad I made this visit. Perhaps I'll try the Barbeque Chicken in my next visit.

Read moreOur recent travel adventure led us to stay at one of the most enchanting homestay "Whoo". This place has a serene and cozy atmosphere. Even the host Miss Eusabia is a very warm and amicable person. 📍The service quality was impressive and the host took special care for our meals as we are vegetarian as it can be quite a hassle to find vegetarian food in NorthEast area. 📍Our cozy rooms exuded charm and character with every little detail thoughtfully curated to make us feel a sense of homeliness. From the plush bedding to the beautiful furniture, it was evident that every thing was chosen with care. Overall our stay at "Whoo" was pleasant and memorable. "WHOO...
Read moreWe were so hungry and most of the eateries were closed in this area as it was late in the night but fortunately we stumbled into this place as it was still open and still lively as ever. We ordered our food and had a wonderful time. The kind lady at the front desk was even kinder as she took us to the rooftop and let us witness one of the beautiful night-sights of Shillong city and it was truly a wonderful view (pictures attached). I would definitely recommend this place and yes it's a...
