Kitchen Xpress — Restaurant in Meghalaya

"Organised Chaos" best describes this place. Not recommended for non alcoholics and vegetarians. The stench of stale alcohol hits you the moment you enter the place. Service depends upon what language you speak or simply the whims of the server, no SOP in place evidently. "Crispy" means "Soggy" here. 10 mins. means anything between 30-45 mins. (Calculate accordingly). This is not the first time I went there today, I observed a steady decline in quality of food and service (it used to be great 5 months back). Sad don't want to see another change in name or rebranding of this place, but would certainly not revisit if options don't run out (which I'm sure won't with new restaurants opening up...

Finally a place in Shillong with a decent ambiance, where the food and drinks are not heavy on the pockets. There are plenty of shady bars within a radius of 7-8 km of Kitchen Xpress and all of them charge same or even more for their food and drinks. Hence there is no reason why you couldn't go to a decent place shelling out the same money. Rs. 400-500 is good enough for a drink and some good starters. The chefs have certainly gotten their meat preps right. Try out the Chicken Crispy for starters or even the unique prep of Chicken Drumsticks. The only thing which lacks in this place is some decent music. If the rhythm flows in, Shillong will have an affordable...

The ambience is great here, bathrooms are clean enough unless some moron throws up in the urinal. The food is decent. It's not inedible but not amazing either. I wouldn't recommend eating here when you're sober but definitely the best choice for people who want a quick drink and a bite with friends on the weekends. Prices are affordable, especially for drinks and the staff hasn't been rude or disrespectful at all so far. I love this place, especially since there are very few affordable and decent places to have a drink and unwind with friends here in Shillong. Definitely on my top 3 favourite places in Shillong...
