4 hours after eating the Chicken Wontons Noodles Soup & I find myself back scrolling Swiggy again. Well I decided not to snack but to have an early dinner & get to bed a few hours earlier. After that rather bland lunch that I had experienced, I wanted something that tickled & excited my tastebuds. Two things came to mind, Andhra food & Naga food. Since I'm yet to find authentic Andhra food in Shillong, I decided on Naga. And today's contender was The Wooden Plate.

Now I've gone searching for this place a year or two back but never found it. Later I realised its a Cloud Kitchen near the Royal Enfield showroom in Keating Road. I placed my order for a Pork Dry Bamboo Shoot Regular Meal.

35mins later & my order arrived. I opened the parcel & was very impressed with the packaging. It had 6 different containers & the only one in plastic was for the rice. Even the salt & mouth freshener had its label. Now even big restaurants don't go to this level for packaging.

Was the food good though? That's a definite yes. It had the popular Lotha tribe style of dishes.

Keeping aside the Axone & Raja Mircha Chutney (Yes I'm still a wuss), the local rice was more than sufficient. The dal was slightly thick & tasty. The boiled cabbage & carrots helped bring respite when my lips started to feel the heat from the 4 decent pieces of pork cooked with dry bamboo shoot. The meat was cooked to the T & the oily gravy tickled & excited my tastebuds. So yes, I found exactly what I was looking for in this meal.

Prices are at a slight premium but atleast you won't be disappointed with the food.

Ordered king chilli chutney, rice, chicken with dried bamboo shoot (half dry) & smoked pork with akhuni (half gravy) from Swiggy for 739, was super excited and hungry but when i had a bite yakkkkkkk it was like eating a spoon full of salt chyaaa this is what u guys serve, don’t u guys taste before packing it seriously what on the Earth did i just ate, literally both the curry and the king chilli chutney was like eating a big spoon full of salt so disappointed, how i wish I could...
