Disappointing Experience and Poor Service at Al Ayamna
I recently visited Al Ayamna with my family of four, including our 3-month-old daughter, for dinner. Upon arrival, I inquired about the availability of the dastarkhwan seating option with the receptionist. He informed me that it was empty and that we could go ahead. We proceeded to sit upstairs in the dastarkhwan area and placed our order.
However, soon after, a staff member approached us and abruptly said, "Who allowed you to sit here? This area is booked for 20 people." I explained that I had checked with the receptionist and confirmed with the waiter upstairs before sitting down. Despite this, the staff member continued to argue with us, insisting that we get up and move to the main restaurant area. This happened in the middle of our meal, which was not only frustrating but also humiliating.
We felt so uncomfortable that we decided to cancel our order and leave the restaurant. It was incredibly disrespectful, especially considering we had a 3-month-old child with us. On our way out, we spoke to the receptionist again, and he stated, "There's no booking showing up," which made it clear that they prioritized a larger group over our family without any consideration for us. Additionally, the staff claimed that they don't allow groups of four in the dastarkhwan area, which was clearly untrue, as we had seen two other groups of four seated in the same section earlier.
I strongly advise others to avoid this restaurant, as it seems they only care about money and not about providing a respectful and enjoyable dining experience for...
Read moreWe visited this place with 8 members of our family, took us around 10 mins to get a table as it was a weekend, we opted for the dastarkhaan section which was very spacious and comfortable. The interior and ambience is bright and cozy. They have polite staff and managers and the service was very quick and the staff knows very well how to cater to customer needs as they were able to provide good suggestions on what items to eat.
The food preparations were very well presented and tasted delicious!
The pays soup was the best item on the menu for us, since very few places in Mumbai can offer a delicious paya soup. The other items we consumed were the fatayer which was again made to perfection. We had 2 other starters one of them was the chapli kabab, juicy and crispy at the same time, we consumed both options, chicken and mutton as well. Also there was a chicken starter in a yellow sauce which was very tender and well marinated and cooked to perfection. Lastly the waiter suggested a special gravy which was a mix of two gravies divided in half so that way you get two different gravies.
Desserts were good as well, we had the kunafa, honeymoon ice cream etc which was quite appetising.
Overall it was a wonderful experience, if you have a big group you should definitely try this place out, they have a vast menu so with a group it would be better to try...
Read moreAl Ayamnan is an upbeat Turkish Arabic restaurant in the busy lanes of Jogeshwari. The ambience is bright and welcoming. The staff polite and helpful with suggestions.
Tried their English Garden, lime muddled with mint leavea and topped with orange-litchi-apple juice. It was refreshing!
Their traditional Turkish soup is a must try. It is a soup gravy with freshly ground pepper and generous portions of lamb cubes that melted in the mouth.
We then had Fattoush a salad with mixed green and Arabic bread. The dressing was mayonnaise base, very light and perfectly seasoned.
We tried also their Adana kebab with kaboosh. The kebabs originated in Turkey. It was seasoned with cumin, tangy sumac and red chilli flakes. A bit spicy but pair with the kaboosh it's just nice. It is served with onions seasoned with a generous portion of sumac.
We ended our meal with kunafa, milky, melt in the mouth goodness! They have other Turkish delights like the baklava but I chose to have the kunafa. It was a good choice. They have a fancy basin to wash your hands, complete with smoke coming off from the base.
Each dish we tried was freshly prepared, tasty. The prices are not too heavy on the pocket. Al Ayamna is worth a visit especially in Ramadan. They do not accept reservation. Go early enough and you won't be...
