Mulund East has since many years now faced a paucity of restaurants which serve some good quality food. It is noteworthy that its neighbour; Mulund West, has been doing quite well in this regard with a multitude of venues, cuisines and price range. But I guess that's a classical problem with Mumbai, the East side of any area is always the poorer cousin to the West side of the same area.
Not having much options to choose from and also a very limited time frame, we zeroed in upon this place for dinner.
This place is located at a very prominent place in Mulund East and is quite popular among the locals. The place was nearly full as we entered here but got an empty table almost immediately.
In view of the limited time in hand, we ordered for the following:
PAV BHAJI [INR 100] The Bhaji was decent, not too spicy and not too bland as well but prepared using some amount of food colour. The taste was just okayish.
TAVA PULAV [INR 140] The name Tava Pulav suggests that its a dish prepared on a tava and the general assumption is that the tava should be hot when the pulav is being prepared. I assume that the Chef guessed or read our mind from a distance and got to know that we were in a hurry and hence sent us some COLD tava pulav which was lying around from some previous batch or cancelled order. It arrived even before I had finished my 2nd helping of the Pav. I would have appreciated had they served it with a few ice-cubes or chilled right out of the refrigerator. I didn't have the patience to wait till it was re-heated and sent to me or place order for another item hence had it & didnt put up a fight. AVOIDABLE
MASALA DOSA [INR 60] Paper thin Dosa, sweet Bhaji, sweet Sambar and watery chutney is what I got served as a Masala Dosa. In the name of cost cutting, the Dosa's are getting bigger to create a perception of size but thin as paper. I mean how does the restaurant expect us to eat the bhaji with a paper thin Dosa. It was as if I was eating a Papad with bhaji. I better not get on with describing the bhaji & sambar. NEVER AGAIN
Service is at the speedever again. of the light. Its as if every waiter has been given a target of a turnaround time for every table he attends to. He has been instructed to maximise returns from every table at least on weekends, hence your orders are served lightening fast; sometimes COLD as well.
I found the prices too high for what I got in return.
I will not...
Read moreEdit: Now they have improved their food taste. The quality is good and the quantity is well enough. The staff behaviour has improved too (this is atleast what I observed during recent few visits here)
Old review: The food taste is average and the people working there have no sense of talking politely to the customers. We had ordered food for home delivery. The person named Nitish came with our delivery and gave us the receipt. On the receipt the time was shown 9:15pm and the food was delivered around 9:50pm. My father who is 65yrs old casually asked him about why it took him so long. And the delivery person started talking rudely with my father. He said, "aapko pata hai khana banane me kitna time lagta hai, humko dusre delivery bhi deni hoti hai" and when we asked him to calm down and talk politely he said he can do complaint if we wanted as if we were ordering food from them for free. I have seen many other reviews from different people regarding their staff's rude behaviour. It's a serious issue and hotel management need to take a serious action. Also, the food taste is not something that great. So I don't know what kind of attitude are these people having with such poor quality food and service. I don't think I'm going to order food from here again and also won't recommend...
Read moreCentrally located at junction is the key point and that's why its easily accessible its become a landmark now. Now lets talk about its ambiance so its compact and noisy the tables placed to close together. You can definitely try this restaurant if you want to go with family or girlfriend. And now about the food first thing they maintain hygiene which is good but the food is not petty average. What i mean is you'll not feel the authentic taste of what ever dish you order. One thing that i want to mention is please think twice before you order Chinese here you can order south Indian food which is decent and punjabi is also good but not Chinese. But overall for vegetarians its a must visit place in mulund east 90 feet road. One of the famous dish they have is veg handi biryani you must try this with lot of vegies which includes mushrooms babycorns and its served with raita and shrikhand. On the price point its bit higher its not at all economical it is costly so check out the menu online if you want...
