DOWNTOWN DIVE. — Restaurant in Mumbai

We went there for a buffet dinner for a get-to-gather. We had a very bad experience with the management. They are very money-minded people. They did not shy away to charge for a buffet for 1-2 years kids. They also found some ghosts between us and charged for extra 5 people.

They didn’t inform us that they have counted the plates and kept. Firstly, it was not meant to be like that but if they had counted the plates, they must ask us to verify it. We came to know only when the plates were over. When we asked for plates, then also they did not inform us. But when asked if they have counted the plates, the manager just nodded his head without any other communication. We informed him that we were not aware the plates were counted. And requested him to count the number of people to avoid confusion, and he said he is aware that some plates are used in other servings. We thought they are aware and understanding. Then too at the end, they charged us for extra 5 people. They served as a few portions of Paneer Chilly instead of Spicy Paneer might be to cut-down their cost. The manager politely said it is the same dish.

To cut-down, we made a mistake of trusting them. They have a few people to explain and a few people to authorize and some people to serve. And all of them will talk different things. If you are booking them, please make proper notes and get it approved by 2-3 people. They do not trust their customers.

We went on the India Pakistan match day and boy we were not expecting such a treat. The resto had good management for patrons watching the match. They brought dhol and shehenai as well and they would go off on every wicket and boundary scores by India. Related to food- The food was OK. One major thing I found was the cheese used in didn't seem to be of good quality. Now I know cheese is supposed to be aged, but I don't think that should be the case with processed cheese. Other than that this is what we bought: Pizza Indiana It was good. Not that great with a wow factor but I couldn't find any flaw except for the cheese.

Onion Rings Very oily. But good for finger food.

Cheese Baked Nachos Pretty OK again.

Cheese Garlic Bread I have eaten a lot of garlic breads from different places, I will put this one among the ones I didn't like. Cheese problem I mentioned was quite a highlight here.

Veg Baked Lasagna Not a big fan of lasagna in general. This one was on the better side of what I have eaten.

Hot garlic Paneer Chilli This was among the best Items we had. I think I will try more of their chinese stuff next time.

Location : It's located inside the Eskay Club and the approach road is not advisable at night. And if no rickshaw enters the drop area when you are exiting the place, you need to walk half a kilometre out to the main road to get a rickshaw. (Not advisable when one's sloshed, especially since there's a large pond on the way.) However parking is available, so chauffeur driven car is a good option. Bar is on the first floor but there's a lift available.

There's limited seats and no online reservation options at the moment.

Outdoor seats are not advisable during afternoon time as it gets very hot. So the view that was showcased on Insta is just there..

Ambience is nice, but it's too loud , and not for family crowd, or if you just want to eat in peace. It's ok for drinks with friends. Something I learnt later.

Non alcoholic and low alcoholic beverages are way overcharged, 55% of the bill was only for these items even though we ordered only one each.. ( 200 + taxes for a Virgin Mojito and 290 + taxes for a Breezer)

Cheap Indian booze is available BOGO during happy hours that runs through the day. Like I said Drinks with Friends..

Food quality is good but service is poor. We took our seats at 13:30 hrs and lunch was served at 15:10 hrs only..
