Foo has always been one of the best Pan Asian cuisine places in Mumbai and is always on my priority list whenever I wish to relish a good Asian meal. When I got to know that they have opened up in Andheri I was thrilled and how!!!! Booked the earliest possible table and immediately met my girl gang up for a nice lunch session here. The minute I entered this place I fell in love with it. Such a pretty place with an al fresco dining option which looks nothing short of a fairy tale like place. Especially the tables around the pink tree are like the most romantic corners here. I’m sure at dinner time this place must be sold out precisely for its vibe and then for its fingers licking good food.
Have had this kind of food in many places but somehow Foo stands out as a class apart. Firstly the menu is friendly ans easily tempting enough to make one try it all and secondly the staff is super super friendly and help u decide well by giving at apt suggestions. A special thanks to our Attendant, Ajay. He was utmost attentive and warm. When we looked up the menu well we realised they have not just ample of vegan options but have tons of Jain food options too. This is truly a treat for all so there isn’t a chance anyone would want to miss this place out as they have something for everyone.
We tried a variety of appetisers and just one main which was equivalent to the best we have ever had in any place…. Let’s start with the appetisers; Som Tum salad. This had a fantastic dressing and we loved the freshness of the ingredients and flavours. Spicy miso broccoli. Wow!!!! Even non broccoli lovers will love this one. The flavour of the curry leaves just enhanced the taste overall. Worth a try. Farm vegetables gyoza. Pan smeared gyoza with a filling of cauliflower, beans, carrots etc. They were plated with a layer of spicy Mayo topped with the gyoza. The texture was very smooth and cheese like. Aburi veg maki. Avacado, beet, spicy miso, yam bean and shredded cheese. Impressive and highly recommend this for all sushi lovers. Fresh cottage cheese with foo chilly oil. Super fresh & soft cottage cheese with the garnish of chilly oil …. A match made in heaven. A mix of mellow n spice together. Quite nice. Melt in the mouth texture. Spicy Hunan chilly baby potatoes. The typical sweet sour & spicy flavour that we look forward to in an Asian meal was felt in this. A no brainer … simply order it Foo yellow curry. Absolutely loved this. The star dish of the meal and highly recommended by me. A must try. It complemented the staple main so well. Simply flawless. Foo blue butter Japanese rice. Beautiful shade of rice and texture was perfect to blend with the curry. I could go back to foo 365 days just for this rice and yellow curry. Must have.
We just couldn’t even think of desserts after so much food but I’m definitely coming back here for desserts soon. A stuffed tummy but still heart is craving more and I can already visualise myself dining here under the pink tree soon. Andheri has its sparkling star and I’m glad I tried it already. Shall...
Read moreFood was mediocre, service was pathetic. I literally spent 2,766/- on my food and this is what I got. Obviously, judging from the photos on Google I had high expectations from this place but bro, it was just meh.
First of all, when I called them for making a reservation the lady on the call didn’t say much, except, “Yeah just come at your convenient time.”, no asking for name for booking or anything whatsoever.
Second, when me and my partner (only the two of us) reached the location another lady attended us and asked for the name under which it was reserved, obviously my answer was the staff didn’t ask for my name or anything and said whatever she said to me on call. So the attendant was confused. It was quite unprofessional as per my thinking.
Third, the food took SO LONG to come to us. There were waiters gathering and chatting around but they didn’t even bother to ask us that why is our table empty or have we ordered anything yet? This has never happened to me at any restaurant, I mean, there’s always a person who would at least ask me that do I need anything else or not. I literally had to call and ask twice or thrice to the waiters that was is taking so long? One of them said that he’ll check on it and didn’t even bother to come back and inform us, although he was just roaming around and trying to make himself ‘busy’ judging that he can’t just stay idle or else the manager might get mad.
Fourth, food was mediocre. I was expecting more but I felt like even I can make it at home. So there was nothing new about it. Plus, it almost seemed like the serving was less. The sushi and dumplings looked smaller than I had expected.
Overall, yeah, this is it. Btw I also felt they weren’t paying much attention to us because we were just some teenagers, maybe I could be wrong but I got this vibe. Sorry but I’ll...
Read moreWalked out of the neighbouring Pan Asian restaurant and decided to do Sunday Brunch at Foo again as I really enjoy their food. So glad I did as the place was decorated for Christmas and the vibes were just great.
Food and Spread: the festive brunch options were excellent (pretty much same as their Sunday brunch menu) and included 2-4 choices across soup, salad, sushi, dimsum, appetizers, main course and dessert. This is what I would recommend you to try from their huge menu: Siracha chicken dumpling Spicy hamachi maki Wasabi, truffle and edamame dumpling Tenderloin chilly Strawberry cheesecake (icecream was the winner 😉)
I couldn't try the main course yet again as I was really stuffed because I repeated a few of the items above (you can call for any items as many times) but the portion sizes are just ideal for a single serving so you can try more options if required. Really happy with the quality and taste of food. My wife and friend loved their meal too.
Drinks: They also have a set brunch drinks menu from which we tried just the Meso sour which turned out to be very good though on the sweeter side as they add a bit of caramel syrup to it.
Service: Unlike the last time, the service was pretty good this time around and there wasn't any chaos even when the place was packed.
Ambience: they have an indoor and outside section. As we had walked in, we sat at the bar for half the meal and then were shifted to a table inside though I would have preferred to sit in their cabana styled seats outside.
Our overall bill with taxes came to Rs. 8900 for 3 (festive brunch food package with drinks on ala carte) which I would consider a bit steep but it's totally worth it.
Overall I really enjoyed the food, drinks & the ambience and recommend this place to anyone willing to splurge for a nice Asian...
