Oh Calcutta..! It's one of the most amazing place that I have been to for some authentic Bengali food 🐟. There are many outlets in Mumbai of the restaurant like one in Tardeo, Andheri, Malad. I visited the outlet situated in Andheri West. The place is located just opposite to the Infiniti mall on the ground floor itself next to Mainland China and are interconnected from inside. So, the washroom 🚽 is only available in Mainland China so you have to enter Mainland China in order to go to the washroom . The ambience of restaurant was very soothing, you will find various painting 🖌️ hanging on the wall and the restraunt colour and furniture is white 🤍 and brown 🤎 in colour. Good old aesthetic effect to the restaurant. It's a proper dining place, you will hear a soothing background music 🎶 going on, just a tuning. The staff 🤵 here are really helpful and well aware of the menu and the dishes. I really like that thing. So as I was trying Bengali menu for the first time I needed some help for which the staff recommended and guided me properly. All the dishes which we tried most of it are recommended by the staff and I regretted ordering none of it. All the dishes were really good. So we visited around 8-8:30PM at that time ⌚ it was empty which made me doubt the place but as the time goes by people 👪 started coming and it was the wonderful experience. On the table they will keep the plates 🍽️ already which has a design of Calcutta Howrah Bridge 🌉 further to serve the food they change the plate as it does not get damage and mix with your 🔥 hot food 🥣. As soon as we ordered food, side dishes were brought to our table which included cucumber raita, Alu kabuli (kind of like potato and chickpea salad with some Indian masalas) and mustard kasundi (thick yellowish brown sauce with sharp taste made up of ground seeds of mustard plant). Side dishes were accompanying well with the starter and the main course that we ordered. The following are dishes which we experienced here : STARTERS 1. Murshidabadi murgi 🍗 : This is basically grilled chicken in Murshidabadi style. They are basically boneless chicken covered in Indian green paste and spices. Was basically served as skewers. Overall it was tasting good but I would give a brownie point if some sort of chutney would have been served with it. They will serve you onion 🧅 and lemon 🍋 if you ask them for it. 2. Bhetki Maccher Paturi 🐠: So bhetki is basically a river water which is sweet in taste 🐟. So basically they are steamed mustard fish parcels. The fish is covered with mustard and green chilli pasted and packed on banana leaf 🍃 and cooked by way of steam. They are boneless Bhetki fillets which makes it very easy to enjoy. The best dish that I had here. Must try. REFRESHMENTS 3. Gondhoraj Shorbot: it’s a refreshing fragrant beverage made with ‘King of Lime’ 👑I.e Gondhoraj (big lemon grown in Kolkata which is popular for its frangrance and taste). Shorbot is basically like a sweet lime soda but you can definitely smell the different aroma from the drink. 🍋🥤 4. Watermelon and Basil crush: it’s fresh basil 🌿 burst with juicy watermelon chunks 🍉infused with aerated drink 🍹 . It was very refreshing. ☺️Amongst both the mocktails, I loved watermelon mocktail. It’s worth trying. MAIN COURSE 4. Kancha lonka murgi 🍗 : So it's a Bengali style chicken with a dry green gravy made up of fresh coriander and chillies. If you have never tried green 💚 chicken then this is worth trying. I'll not recommend having rice with this gravy. Even the staff suggested not to order rice with it as the gravy is thick but still I wanted to try it with rice (so the staff offered us half portion of rice without charge, it was such a good gesture we loved it 🥰) 5. Luchi : So luchi is basically a puffed up puri made of maida (refined wheat flour). Very thin and soft in texture. It is similar to bhature but made without using dahi. You can try it with any gravy. DESERT 6. Nolen gurer ice cream 🍨 : So this was also recommend by the staff and they said you cannot find this anyw

I went for a Sunday lunch with my wife. I went with non veg thali in my mind. Was waiting for a long time for this actually. Travelled all the way from Mira road to Andheri just to find out that the thali is not served on weekends. Sad. So to enjoy a ₹1300 thali you have to go on your working day. Honestly this place is overrated, they have good food with a price tag of a 5 star hotel. Check the bill in photos. Mineral water bottle expensive than the airport, a humble potato based veg dish for ₹445, 2 small bowls of plain rice for ₹550 and 4 pieces of mutton for ₹725 looked like a 5 star restaurant rate card. You will laugh when you will see the charge for green salad. BTW the green salad had 1 cucumber, 1 onion and 1 tomato sliced well. I ignored the price for that moment and brought my focus back to eating. So I asked a waiter to show where the hand wash basin was, they pointed out towards Mainland China. So we literally walked from one restaurant to another just to wash hands. Funny 😂 Service was slow but it's okay on a busy time slot. I can understand. Food came to the table, the waiter served the first set of bites, we started to enjoy the home like tasty dal, luchi and begun bhaja but after a few minutes the waiters got busy with other customers and stopped serving us so we started serving food to ourselves. It was a struggle with one hand plus the food bowls were bone china so they were heavy. Overall it was a normal Bengali home Sunday lunch. Nothing special either not too bad either. Will go back one day for the thali. Most people who gave feedback are probably foodies and may be biased because of their love for Bengali food. Same with me I guess because I gave the 3rd star for the food only. The location is a bit odd in a 3rd class industrial estate. Such an expensive fine dine brand should have more outlets in different locations. Please bring one to Mira Bhayandar or Dahisar. I would recommend the management to assign at least one waiter to manage 1-2 tables instead of every time a new waiter running helter skelter table to table. I usually pay tips even if I don't like the food but this time I did not leave a tip because I got upset when I saw the FORCED service charges on my bill. Already the rates were inflated, then sst+gst and on top of that the service charges. The waiters still expected some tips. I felt sorry for them though. I won't recommend any friends to visit but anyone who have cravings for authentic bengali food, like me, can visit there. This feedback is for the betterment not to bring anyone down.

Oh! Calcutta, Andheri – A True Bengali Feast in Mumbai I dropped by Oh! Calcutta in Andheri for a late lunch, and honestly, it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while. The restaurant is easy to find—right on the highway—and the vibe hits you as soon as you walk in. It’s warm, inviting, and has that polished-but-comfortable feel. When I was seated, I noticed these gorgeous white plates with vintage Bengali prints—they looked stunning and added a nice touch to the setting. Sadly, they’re just for show; you can’t actually eat off them. Still, great visual detail that sets the mood. I was attended to immediately, seated without any delay, and the service from there on was top-notch. The waiter was not only attentive but genuinely helpful—he patiently answered all my questions and even walked me through their specials. I started with the Calcutta Bhetki Fish Fry—boneless, buttery soft, and packed with flavor. It came with a mustard sauce and a curd-onion mix that completely stole the show. I even asked for a second helping of that mix—it was that good. Next came the Gondhoraj Shorbot, made with a special lemon sourced from Bengal. The waiter recommended it, and I’m glad I listened. Refreshing, light, and a total palate cleanser. A hidden gem. Then came the heavy hitters: Calcutta Mutton Biryani and Mutton Kosha. I’d always wanted to try their Kosha, but usually with luchi. This time, I asked if it would pair well with biryani, and the waiter said, “That’s the best combo.” He wasn’t wrong. The mutton kosha was incredible—thick, rich gravy with melt-in-the-mouth mutton. Easily the best I’ve ever had. And the biryani? Subtle, fragrant, and uniquely Bengali, with tender mutton, a boiled egg, and that signature baked potato. It’s not your typical masala-heavy biryani—it’s an acquired taste, but one I’ve come to love thanks to my Bengali friends over the years. For dessert, I went with the Baked Rosogolla—another hit. The portion was smaller than expected, but it packed a punch. Baked with rabdi, it was warm, comforting, and a perfect end to the meal. Oh, and they even offered a complimentary paan on the way out. Nice touch. Final verdict? Easily one of the best Bengali restaurants in Mumbai. Everything—from service to flavor—was on point. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Overall it was tasting good but I would give a brownie point if some sort of chutney would have been served with it. They will serve you onion 🧅 and lemon 🍋 if you ask them for it.

Must try.

REFRESHMENTS Gondhoraj Shorbot: it’s a refreshing fragrant beverage made with ‘King of Lime’ 👑I.e Gondhoraj (big lemon grown in Kolkata which is popular for its frangrance and taste). Shorbot is basically like a sweet lime soda but you can definitely smell the different aroma from the drink. 🍋🥤

Watermelon and Basil crush: it’s fresh basil 🌿 burst with juicy watermelon chunks 🍉infused with aerated drink 🍹 . It was very refreshing. ☺️Amongst both the mocktails, I loved watermelon mocktail. It’s worth trying.

MAIN COURSE Kancha lonka murgi 🍗 : So it's a Bengali style chicken with a dry green gravy made up of fresh coriander and chillies. If you have never tried green 💚 chicken then this is worth trying. I'll not recommend having rice with this gravy. Even the staff suggested not to order rice with it as the gravy is thick but still I wanted to try it with rice (so the staff offered us half portion of rice without charge, it was such a good gesture we loved it 🥰)

Luchi : So luchi is basically a puffed up puri made of maida (refined wheat flour). Very thin and soft in texture. It is similar to bhature but made without using dahi. You can try it with any gravy.

DESERT Nolen gurer ice cream 🍨 : So this was also recommend by the staff and they said you cannot...

This feedback is for the betterment not to bring...

Tax Invoice No. GOCAW0000011547 0f 22.10.2025, 14: 28 Hrs, Table No.7 On the occasion of 88th Birthday of my very aged Mother (Brahmin Widow & pure Vegetarian), I had decided to give her a Vegetarian Lunch treat at ‘Oh Calcutta (Andheri West Link Road)’ and accordingly booked a Table for three at 13:30 Hrs. of 22-10-2025. We preferred ‘Oh Calcutta!’, as it is very close to our Residence and being a Bengali, my mother would definitely enjoy Bengali Vegetarian Dishes there. Me, my Wife and my Mother reached the Restaurant at 13:30 Hrs. and placed Order with Sri Hemant, inter-alia for “Kasundi Narkol Paturi”. While my mother was having her other Vegetarian items there, the  said Dish (Kasundi Narkol Paturi) got served to her and by putting it in her mouth, she could realize that it was actually a “Fish Paturi” served to her instead of what was actually ordered for i.e. “Kasundi Narkol Paturi”. As my Mother is a very aged Brahmin Bengali Widow, she does not take anything non-vegetarian and because of this unpardonable mistake/carelessness of the Oh Calcutta staff , she could not continue with her Lunch anymore and had to decide for going back home as she had fallen sick because of vomiting tendency, having been fed with Fish by Oh Calcutta Staff. We immediately brought the matter to the knowledge of Sri Sashikant (Supervisor/Captain on duty), who after checking the system confirmed to us that the Order placed by us was correct i.e. for “Kasundi Narkol Paturi” but by mistake ‘Fish Paturi” got served to my mother. Sri Sashikant also apologized to us for the mistake and tried to offer us ‘Free Ice Cream’, which we did not accept. My Questions to the Restaurant are --- Is apologizing, saying sorry as well as offering discount/free dish etc. sufficient on the part of the Restaurant to upkeep it VALUE FOR CUSTOMERS? Did the Restaurant have any right to spoil the Birthday Celebration of my 88 yrs Old Mother by serving her Non-veg Dish instead of a Veg Dish, which was ordered for? Instead of making it a memorable day for us, why did the Restaurant acted so irresponsibly that not only made my Mother Sick but she will also never forget having eaten a non-veg item against her wish/value/custom? Why legal or any other appropriate action be not taken against the Restaurant, beside reporting the incident to appropriate Authority for action as...
