❖ Location- just few minutes’ drive from a juhu beach and on the ground floor of hotel royal garden.(4/5)
❖ Theme- A perfect all day dining cafe i must say. They serve awesome breakfast menu and we were wanted to enjoy the breakfast on a weekend so went there.
❖ Ambience- super refreshing feel you get as soon as you will enter inside. This outlet has non AC seating area and AC seating area. The colours what they have used in the restaurant is what i really loved, bright and fresh. Got comfortable couches and chairs for seating. Good thing is they have many tables for two, liked it.
❖ Food and Beverage- A ideal all day dining restaurant/cafe is what i would define. Was in mood to have a proper breakfast so decided to have it here. In breakfast they have really very good and interestingdishes. Their breakfast is available till 11.30 am. Had cafe mocha which was so perfect with excellent garnish and watermelon basil juice which had fresh juice of watermelon infused with basil. Few of the Dishes we tried are mentioned bellow.
• SUNDAY OMLETTE- A perfect thick and fluffy omelette made with chopped onions, jalapeno and chopped sundried tomatoes. Super delicious omelette served with a slice of toasted bread cut in 4 and a piece of hash brown.(4.5/5)
• EGG BENEDICT- Soft poached egg on top of toasted muffin and finished with hollandaise sauce. Made it to the perfection and believe me making perfect poached egg is skill. Hollandaise sauce was little bland, was tasting more of a butter but otherwise dish was excellent.(4/5)
• TURKISH EGGS- Poached eggs served with thickened yogurt, chilli oil, fried garlic and caynne pepper powder. It was served along with toasted pita bread. Simple yet super inviting and eye appealing dish, fried garlic was doing magic here.(5/5)
• WAFFLES- Homemade waffles served along with fruit compote, maple syrup and a scoop of ice cream. You can add on few of the options like marshmallows, salted caramel etc. (4/5)
❖ To sum up- Now a days, Indian foodies started enjoying the breakfast meals in restaurant. Whenever you are craving for a good breakfast, i am sure you should go to grandmama’s cafe as the breakfast options they serve are really good and value for money. I didn’t try any other dishes from the menu other than breakfast so whenever i would visit next time, i would love to try other dishes from the menu. Certainly would recommend this place for those who are looking for proper...
Read moreI've been a regular of this restaurant and have visited the Juhu and Dadar branches multiple times — always had a great experience with excellent food and courteous service.
Unfortunately, my recent visit to the Chembur branch was a stark contrast. The food was good, as always, and we had no complaints on that front. But what left a sour taste was the way the staff treated us towards the end of our meal.
Just as we were finishing up, a staff member came over and politely asked us to wrap up soon as there were guests waiting. While the ask was unexpected, we understood and didn’t mind — we immediately asked for the bill and were preparing to leave.
However, when I stepped outside while my friend was in the washroom, I noticed that:
Several tables inside were already empty, and
There was no one waiting outside.
I went back in and asked the staff member about it, and he insisted there were people waiting and even said something like “this is a table for four, and only two of you were sitting” — which made little sense. He kept insisting there was a queue outside and told me to check for myself. I did. There was absolutely no one waiting.
When we brought this up with the owner/manager on duty, there was no apology or genuine acknowledgment — just a casual “we’ll look into it.”
This whole incident completely ruined an otherwise good evening. It wasn’t about being asked to leave — we were already done with our meal — but the dishonesty and the dismissive attitude left us feeling unwelcome. We had spent around a decent amount on the meal, so it wasn’t even like we were lingering without ordering.
At a place like this, you go not just for food, but to relax and enjoy. Being rushed out for no reason and then gaslighted about it is not what I expect from a brand I previously respected.
Really hope the management takes this feedback seriously — because this kind of behavior is not aligned with the great experience I’ve had at their...
Read moreSo, I visited this location on a relatively busy evening. There was 20-minute wait-time. That was not much of an issue because we had anticipated such an outcome. The place is quite pleasant on its own. The furniture is good and the colour palette makes you cozy and cheers you up. The tables are widely spaced and pretty good for a big group as well as couples. The light and overall texture or tone to this place makes you calm and bubbly. The service is good. They won't be able to recommend you their specials or what you shall have but they're quick at serving and collecting orders. They're friendly and polite. They don't serve each person but rather leave the food at the table, but this means that why can not be messy. The food is overrated. We had pasta, nachos, pizza & falafels. I felt that all of them were a little below average. Obviously, you don't expect this from a place such as Grandmama's Café. So, that was a disappointment. We later ordered cheese fondue, which turned out to be spicy, which is weird. On talking with the staff about it, they said there must be something wrong with us instead of accepting any errors. Skipping that part, we ordered a chocolate caramel shot. Trust me, that was the best part of that evening. But sadly, you won't be able to have it, because its part of their seasonal specials. On the other hand, the place is a bit expensive. I am giving the place this rating based on the food, ambiance, staff & location. The extra one point is for the praises I have heard about it from my friends, and accepting that, may be, it was just a bad day.
Verdict: I would say that you can visit this place for experimentation but don't go with an empty stomach. Don't get the hopes too high and just try...
