We were 4and it was saturday 6july , as there was seating rush outside i gave my name to one mr Sachin , a decent guy , who told me ac would mean more wait, better for us to sit outside. We agreed and within 5mts he gave us 4seats. On asking about subzi and my preference, he directed one Anil ( sort of captain as they call) who suggested veg chilly Milly ( the review abt this subzi first is its very theeka and uncooked , not good subzi and a bad suggestion) Please avoid.
Anyways that anil came to our seat and awhile later i gave him order of masala papad and later fried rice, Schezwan wet gravy, dal kichdi ( not good at all) and unfortunately chilly milli roti, but before that when we told our preference of no 🍄 or ajinomoto in the dishes, his body language was bad indifferent.
And of course there was this 1 guy onky to attend to about 14 four seated patrons. Very sad.
Asap i called mr sudhir whom i know from time kalinga opened and he was away . I told Sachin abt this guy anil and he sent another waiter.
The chairs are a pain in back and bum. See fotos. Why cant they keep simple nice cushioned chairs or plastic ones. DONT BELIEVE ME , GO SIT FOR 15 MTS AND EXPERIENCE AND FEEL. Anyways most food items ( normally we order home delivery) are nowadays are VERY strictly ok. just passable .
Prices are high . The holenof pepper powder is choked always. Anil is a pain. 🍋 Rind given for home is to small that even a baby cant hold it.
On table 🍋 slight bigger.
No tissue unless u ask beg, And anil just shoved , just shoved it in recess on the table for keeping tissue and most flew away in air becuz of fan.
🦟 Bite ur leg.
They are in hurry to take menu card away. Y i dont know. In Defence they may say for making place on table, thats a lie , but suppose one wants to order more, then u harv 2 search waiter beckon him. No easy job. PLease dont believe these. GO incognito and see or call them in evenings , rude and in hurry , aur bhi customers hai, they will say. R u givif free , r we not customer, 📱 manners needed. The basic Rule is if i call , i end the 🤙,
but in most hotels including kalinga they are in hurry to bang the phone.
No wonder no tips are given .

Read moreHaving frequented Kalinga Veg over the years, I've witnessed its impressive evolution. The recent rebranding has breathed new life into the establishment, making it more inviting and contemporary.
Their new pizza offerings are a delightful surprise. The crust is perfectly baked, toppings generous, and flavors spot-on. A must-try for pizza enthusiasts!
While Kalinga Veg remains true to its Udipi roots, serving authentic South Indian fare, it's evident they've expanded their culinary horizons. However, it's advisable to stick to their strengths; the Chinese dishes might not be their forte.
The staff's attentiveness has noticeably improved. Prompt service, coupled with genuine warmth, enhances the dining experience. The revamped decor adds a fresh, modern touch, making the ambiance both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing.
Kalinga Veg's transformation is commendable. They've successfully blended tradition with innovation, offering a diverse menu that caters to various palates. If you haven't visited recently, it's worth experiencing the positive...
Read moreNew edit (2023) Our recent trip to the restaurant was just short of a nightmare. We were greeted by a cockroach and mosquitos in the air-conditioned section. We were served old or raw mushrooms as tandoori mushroom. When told about the state of the mushroom, we were told that that's how tandoori is. Frankly after many attempts too I failed to create a dent in the mushroom, while the person who is responsible for taking the order simply poked a fork in full swing into the mushroom saying it cuts. I mean... You can poke a hole in raw vegetables as well with a fork.
Besides all this, they had the audacity to charge service charge and keep on the inedible dish on the bill.
Never Going Back, and my advice is to try any of the 500+ restuarants in the area.
Old edit: This is our local favourite restaurant since our childhood. The food is really good, be it any cuisine. The ghee sada dosa, fried rice, paneer chilli, fruit jelly with ice cream, sabud dana vada, pav bhaji and mixed fruit juice are a...
